Only frustrating thing is that its taking so many years for it to happen. Haven't been this buzzing for a match in a long time. Hopefully will get a ticket for the away game

so big are these two clubs, it only took 9 seasons for them to be paired together

the setanta cup being the only realistic competition the champions league faces

as for the away game, i imagine the six million super dooper hoopers will still be wandering around belfast locked out of the game

As regards the most successful club on the island, there have been numerous cross border competitions over the years. The roll of honour is

Shamrock Rovers 7 (Seven)
Linfield 4
Portadown 2
Coalraine 2
Glentoran 2
Drogheda United 2
Bohemians 2
Athlone Town 1
Crusaders 1
Cork Hibernians 1
Cork City 1
Dundalk 1
Glenavon 1
Waterford 1
Ards 1
Belfast Celtic/Distillery joint winners

Irish League 14 V 16 LOI

Dont think any of the cross border competitions can be used to gauge succes , Glens and Linfied when it comes to leagues and two cups are top dogs Glens 23 leagues 27 cups / league cups .Rvs 17  leagues 25 Cups/ league cups .

Glens and Linfield would of always traditianally had bigger cowds but thats has changed significantly now Linfield lucky to pull in 1500 at most home games

Era there's always someone out there with more leagues, there's likely some league in the sticks like Mayo or something where some team always wins. Linfield's success is done to the money they get from the IFA.

Rovers are the better club.

The Irish League was founded in about 1890 and the LOI in 1921/22, so the Blues and Glens would have a head start on Rovers.

Anyway the only way to compare teams is to gauge the most titles when they are competing in the same competiton. Rangers have won 50odd leagues which is a lot more than Liverpool, but Liverpool have  won 5 big ones.

Cannot wait for this. Can't see us bringing more than 700 to Windsor to be honest. Hopefully Tallaght sells out too

It won't be a sellout in Tallaght, get a grip lads, the Santy Cup's attraction is minimal.  I'll be going of course, waited 29 years to put the European Cup loss right...........should be a good crowd but it'll be far from capacity, just hope the maggots/scumbags stay away and pull themselves off somewhere else.
We'll never die, we'll never die, we'll keep the Green Flag flying high......Shamrock Rovers will never die, we'll keep the Green Flag Flying high. 19 Leagues and 25 Cups.....

unfortunately not due to the successes on the field. i'd say most reports will focus on the security side of things.
