Out for the season with a knee injury sustained in a car crash while his teammate was drunk driving.

Probably is the end of his Derby career and rules him out of Euro 2020.

At 33 this injury sounds career threatening. I've never thought he was an amazing defender but seemed reliable enough for ireland and probably the best option for the remaining qualifying games.

True but he's at our level.

He's usually reliable but like you say this could be a career ender.
