I'm starting out with my kids team (u5's). Small club so parents run the sessions. Anyone have any good idea for games/drills for that type of age. Previous coaches were ding some very archaic stuff so I'd love some ideas for games (currently on duck duck goose and stuck in the mud) and drills that get as many touches as possible in an hour (dribbling, kicking etc)

I wouldn't over think it. Some organised chaos. Small side games and let them go helter skelter.

Small goals. Size 1 footballs. Small sided games (1v1,2v2,3v3,4v4)

And have fun

Agree with the 1 v 1 and 2 v 2 or at most 3 v 3.

Keep it simple and try not to over think it - try focus on 2/3 drills per session and work on those drills for a 4 to 6 week period.

Cheers, yeah the current coaches throw a ball in between 10/12 kids and let them run at it for 20/25 mns, there's a few strong kids hogging the ball so just trying to do something to ensure the weaker kids get touches too.

That age group can be mental for a coach so if possible, try to keep the ratio of players per coach to a small enough number. That way the players will receive more one-on-one time with the coach rather than you spreading yourself too thin.

Adaptation of PE games can work well for warm-ups.
