The insistence on not believing the evidence before your eyes by some posters is just weird - Pauw has had issues with previous teams and now evidently no one in the Ireland set up rated her/wanted her to stay on either. It must all be a big conspiracy.

It's almost as if some people are desperate for this to be a case of moany female divas that can't stomach hard work, as that might legitimise their own views....

Does anyone think that what Caldwell has said is not pretty much what the rest of the squad have been thinking.

Not one player has come out and said Pauw should have been kept on.  In what world is Pauw right and everyone else wrong including previous employer.  Basically the only argument people have in favour of Pauw is that we qualified for the World Cup.   It’s like once you qualify you have freedom to manage in anyway you like.

If the Irish players think they would have qualified for the World Cup even without Pauw as manager, they are quite deluded. Do they think they are the Spain or England squad or something? Most small or medium ranked teams need the aid of a very good coach.

Of course they do.  It’s a pity they didn’t have one.
Petty, small-minded, puerile, junior grade. Rest your case, shut up ffs.

Nail on the head. It was almost inevitable it would end this way.
Granted it looks bad the way it's being played out now but just imagine what it would be like if Vera stayed on.

Exactly, imagine the sh*t show if she had got an extension. It's clear tensions were running extremely high, she's the boss, buck stops with her, she had to go. The rest is just noise.

Captain shouts at manager during a game and orders her to make changes
Senior player lambasts previous manager in front of the media in a classless display

Yeah the players are no issue here whatsoever.

As for Caldwell's accusation:
Alex Ferguson was the luckiest manager ever.  He inherited a group of special players who succeeded in spite oh him with his bullying ways.  He held them back despite winning them f**k all before or after Ferguson left.

-Tried to coerce Paul McGrath to retire despite it not being in the best interest of the player
-Kicked a boot at Beckham's head
-Shamed Paul Ince in front of his team mates calling him a  bottler repeatedly
-Treated Roy Keane shamefully and forced him out of the club
-Sold Jaap Stam for daring to question his manager in his book
-Treated numerous players coldly and disposable once they were no longer of use to him.
-Banned the BBC for daring to question him
-Sued the owners of Manchester United when he was their employee
Pied Piper to: Baldrick, Brendan 88, 9Fingers, Borussia and more...

Is anyone really suggesting she should have been kept on? There was no way forward for her in the job once she lost the dressing room. She had to go in the circumstances. But that doesn't change the reality that the women's squad are coming out of this looking absolutely awful as a group.

Sounds like Baldie got knocked back from Vera Broken Heart

A little inappropriate considering what Vera had to deal with at the Dutch FA. Then again wouldn’t expect you to know anything about that as the vast majority of those wanting her to stay on babe only taken an interest since we qualified.

She has had to put up with some horrendous treatment when she was younger. Despicable.

Be interesting to see how better they play without Vera holding them back.

A lot of the language used on this thread either in support or criticism of Pauw or the players is gender based. Give it a rest! I don't recall any criticism of the MNT or Kenny referencing their gender. Although, having said that, the words c**t and pr**k were used a lot!

I don't think anyone has used Pauw's gender as a reason to dismiss her, entirely the opposite actually.

If you're looking for a reason why she seems to be pretty much universally disliked by the players she's managed, consider the fact that she's a self-professed adherent of Raymond Verheijen... If you don't know who he is, look him up, he's a f*cking crank.

Caldwell seemed to indicate she was opposed to Pauw having her contract renewed as far back as March 2021. Looks like there were a group of players who had an issue with her even before the WC qualifiers started.

Whats your beef with him?  Never heard of him.  Seems to be a physiologist who has worked for Hiddink and Wales under Gary Speed.

Yes, that's what she said yesterday. I can only imagine their relief at finally getting to see the back of her.

Was much criticised after the death of Gary Speed (he was assistant at Wales at the time)
