GO GET EM HECTOR OL BOY !!

By Mark Howarth
27th August 2018, 11:05 pm Updated: 27th August 2018, 11:09 pm
EX-Rangers stars and chiefs are facing a total bill of £32million to settle EBT debts — with just a month to agree to pay.
More than 70 former players, staff and officials received wages in the form of the tax-free loans the Supreme Court ruled illegal last year.

Now HMRC have told them to provide all paperwork by the end of September to stop officials coming after them.
It’s understood some have already stumped up — with payments swollen by interest and charges to around two-thirds of what they were lent.

On that basis some old players could be hit for seven-figure sums along with ex-owner Sir David Murray and Scotland manager Alex McLeish.
A source said: “These amounts are life-changing for some guys. They put their trust in advice EBTs were above board.

Rangers legend Barry Ferguson says aftermath of ‘Big Tax Case’ and EBT saga has left players in ‘difficult situations’

“The result is that a lot of players will be left financially crippled.”
The Ibrox club paid out £47million through the controversial scheme.
Recipients who fail to agree settlement would be open to a new loan charge from next April — with HMRC enforcing heftier bills and no room for negotiation.
Tonight a spokesman said: “We have 12 months to issue follower notices after a final decision. The final decision in Rangers’ case was July 5, 2017.”
In June we told how the porn star behind Rangers’ controversial tax scheme, Paul Baxendale-Walker, was declared bankrupt with whopping debts of £16 million.
And in May club legend Barry Ferguson told how the aftermath of the EBT saga has put former players in “difficult situations”.

Rangers game on at 3pm.

Would be some laugh if the Russians knocked them out but can't see it.
Wings? They're only the band The Beatles could have been.

You never know, i'd give the Russians a big chance.
Why were they the underdogs by the way? I'd have thought a team from Russia who qualified for Europe would be better than their Scottish equivalent?

They only qualified for the EL because one of the domestic cup winner's didn't apply for their UEFA license in time. ffs Confused

Ah FFS. I saw they were 19/10 so I stuck some money on them. Didn't know that they're probably sh*te.

Surely you'd want Rangers to make the group stages? After all, it means more games and more points potentially dropped domestically, not to mention the chances of improving the Scottish UEFA coefficient. The Europa League doesn't make that much money so it's not a massive financial boost to them.

Apparently, they have budgeted for making the EL groups and are therefore reliant on said money. It is a lot of money for a Scottish club.

Just checked there and Rangers are 1/6 on with PP to progress to the next round so an upset appears unlikely.

Game over lads. They'll survive with all that UEFA money flowing in and Gerrard may turn out to be a good manager. With he way Celtic are going at the moment it may not even be 8 in a row.

The way Celtic are playing, it wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility for them to have the EL money to themselves!
