OK so, for some not all..Between 2008 and 2012 there was a miscalculation of PRSI , As far as I know tthe earnings threshold was 26,000,This could apply if only working for a couple of months, your employer/or you, was not paying the correct tax etc.
Anyway, apply in writing to PRSI REFUNDS SECTION, DEPT. OF SOCIAL PROTECTION,OISIN HOUSE,212-213 PEARSE STREET DUBLIN 2.
Write a short letter asking to review your possible PRSI overpayments back to 2009(4 year statute of limits),include: Name ,Address pps no. and wait and see.Everyone is entitled to do this.
First one to get something back can buy me a pint at  next game Im at.Tongue
O...How do I know , well I sent off last wed and received a substantial cheque yesterday!!!
ENJOY.

Would the fact that I was on disability for a short time during the last 4 years have any connection with prsi refunds?

I know someone that works in social welfare would thy be able to check If I'm due anything - I haven't a clue of all this stuff. Cheers

I would say just send the info in or the form in and they will check. You friend in social welfare may not work in an area  not connected to prsi at all. Then again I do not work there so I am not sure of the work division etc.  Reckon your best bet is to send in your details prsi number etc and see what happens.

If you worked during those years and were only on disability for a short while it shouldn't effect you. Your mate in social welfare should be able to find out for .

Was it to the PRSI refunds or revenue he wrote to? I didn't think they would be looking for money back as the prsi would have been paid by your employer , it would have been them who underpaid not you.
