Saw the end of it today on re-run.  AMAZING......England getting beaten by Holland is just hilarious.  Dunno if yiz know as well, an Irish lad who played for us in the last WC is now playing for England.......Angry but he dropped a catch at a crucial time, so what goes around comes around.

Holland beating England at Cricket.........God is in His Heaven.....LOL

It's not Joyce actually this time, lad named Eoin Morgan, Dubliner as well......I know there's glory and careers and whatever, but an Irishman going turncoat on us to them just defies any logic.

i agree FW but its a bit different to football in the fact that Ireland arent a full testplaying nation so they'll never get to play at the very top level if they dont play for England..but your point is correct-turncoat bastids!!

4th over - Ire 18-1
Porterfield knocks Rubel for a single, O'Brien has to duck a bouncer and he does look in pain - why doesn't he call for a runner, considering he was injured in the current match? He won't have to run for the next one - blasts a straight drive for four. A single allows Porterfield to hit out for the first time with a fluent cover-driven four. Easily Ireland's best over.

Finely balanced Test Match between Australia and India here on Day 3. India probably with the advantage at this stage - 408 in the first inning, Aussies 243/5 so far in reply. Aussies haven't lost a test at the Gabba since 1988.

I'm going to watch this until 1am at least.

Ireland suddenly becomes the topic of discussion in the commentary box.

Shane Warne talking about hurling. "The best live sport you'll ever see". He couldn't remember what match a touring Australian party of which he was a member attended, but knows Kilkenny were involved. I can tell him now it was the drawn 1993 Leinster final against Wexford, because I was at it and heard the Aussies were there.

Mark Nicholas also recounting a story about how Sir Gary Sobers' West Indies team played Ireland here in the 1960s, and the night before the game their Irish hosts took them out in Dublin. Ireland bowled them out for 60 the next day.

It's wonderful tangents like this that make cricket commentary what it is.

Twas watching it myself Sidney. Warney is adamant it was Kilkenny-Galway.

Love the commentary on the English and Australian channels. The other countries just tend to talk about the play like it is a football match.

It wasn't. Somebody erroneously tweeted that to him as Warney knew it was some sort of final. Definitely the drawn Leinster final (July 11th) - Kilkenny 2-14 Wexford 1-17 - Kilkenny equalised with the last puck of the game with a magnificent point by Eamon Morrissey - Australia played Ireland the previous day - I remember Ger Canning mentioning that they were there during the commentary on The Sunday Game, and spin bowler Tim May was interviewed on the radio at half-time during it.

Hell of a random commentary reference though to read out the result of an All-Ireland final from over 20 years ago during a Test match though.

Best decision they've ever made, I wouldnt even have him as test captain at the minute!!

And bit much calling Morgan a turncoat, he wanted to play test cricket, the authorities have made it impossible at the moment for Ireland to do so, so he had to go where he could to do so, he's in shocking form at the minute as well LOL england be lucky to make it out of the groups as their bowling attack is pathetic at the moment, will need broad and anderson to really step up

The Boxing Day Test Match is underway at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Forum member Trap Junior has just asked me why anybody would like test cricket. I could only explain it as follows.

Imagine watching 8 hours of cricket in a day. For five days in a row. And then the game ends in a draw. 40 hours of cricket. How could anybody possibly find that boring? The answer is, I don't know.

The cricket - what a sport. Clap
