Good result for UCD, terrible result for the league.

Why? Because another billy big bollocks English owners investment gets beat by a long established loi  student based system?? If they can’t compete at that level they’ve no business going up anyhow.

Because Waterford are historically one of the biggest clubs in the county with a decent stadium and fan base whereas UCD are a glorified state funded football academy with a sh*t ground and no fans. A larger regional spilt of clubs in the league is my preference. 7 clubs within a 60 miles radius and none in the 3rd, 4th and 5th largest cities iin the country is a problem if you want to develop a proper full time professional league in the country.

fair enough reply, good points. But their funding pales in comparison with the sugar daddy clubs, with the horrible shels about to leap into that bracket too. Anyway, was more pleased for the ucd players than anything, brave performance. But yeah, I’d agree I’d rather an away to waaaaterford than a visit to the most soulless ground in the country I must admit.

No issues with UCD remaining in the league. They are there on merit. But it should be over 2 legs. Home and Away. That would make more sense. Why have the 1st division play off games as a 2 tie round and to get into the premier division a once off game. Silly.

As a Cork City fan, havings UCD there makes it one step easier to avoiding relegation next season

UCD's contribution to the league is far more significant than most yo-yo clubs like Waterford, especially when you look at the amount of players at other clubs who have come through their system.

That being said, a FT Waterford would be a big addition to the Premier division as the league needs more regional clubs. But it's still funny to see UCD hang in there, even if they're likely to be relegation favourites every year they're in the Premier.
