What a pisser.
As red cards go, they don't come any stranger - but sometimes nature calls.
In what might be an FA Cup first, a goalkeeper was sent off for "urinating in a hedge" during a match.
The keeper in question is Connor Maseko of Hampshire side Blackfield & Langley FC, who play in the ninth-tier Wessex League.
The incident occurred in the 76th minute of their 0-0 draw with Somerset side Shepton Mallet FC in Saturday's FA Cup first qualifying round tie.
"The ball went out for a goal kick," Blackfield & Langley FC co-manager Conor McCarthy told BBC Sport.
"He needed to go to the toilet so he went up against a hedge and their players started shouting saying 'what's he doing?' to the ref. The ref went up to him and decided to send him off.
"He (Maseko) protected himself. He was inside the hedge. Sometimes when you have to go you have to go.
"I was gobsmacked. I didn't expect that [sending-off].
"We're all pretty shocked by the decision."
At the time, a post on Shepton's Twitter account said: "Blackfield keeper is sent off for urinating in the hedge! Never seen it before."
The game will be replayed and Blackfield tweeted: "See you Tuesday evening (hopefully get plenty of toilet breaks en route)."
Shepton, tweeting about the the replay of 'urinate gate', added: "After an unusual red card in the first tie (possibly a first), we are looking for a match sponsor. Plumbers or portaloo companies, take advantage!"

Team news - four changes for both sides
Man Utd v Everton (20:00 GMT)
Erik ten Hag changes four of the side that beat Bournemouth 3-0 earlier this week, with three alterations in defence.
Tyrell Malacia, Raphael Varane and Diogo Dalot come in as Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Aaron Wan-Bissaka drop to the substitutes' bench. Donny van de Beek suffered a knee injury against the Cherries and he is replaced by Antony.
Man Utd XI: De Gea, Dalot, Shaw, Varane, Malacia, Eriksen, Casemiro, Fernandes, Rashford, Antony, Martial.
Frank Lampard makes four changes to the Everton side that lost 4-1 at home to Brighton on 3 January as Seamus Coleman, Ben Godfrey, Amadou Onana and Neal Maupay come in for Nathan Patterson, Tom Davies, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Dwight McNeil

6 changes in the Arsenal team, although Holding is the only one you’d say significantly weakens it. Being 5 point clear with a game in hand, I can see why the cup would be sacrificed, but beating a strong City would have been a big confidence booster.

Dull game
City upped it after half time and got the goal but overall weren’t anywhere near their best

You’d imagine Arsenal will be confident of taking at least 3 points off City. Certainly a lot closer than they have been in many years. City controlled the game well in the 2nd half though and Arsenal created nothing in the 2nd half.

Tierney’s a great defender and someone I thought should have been made captain during the Aubameyang debacle. But he lack quality on the ball, especially in comparison to Zinchenko. And with the aim of Artetams teams being domination of the ball, it’s hard to push for Tierney’s inclusion in the starting XI.

He's desperate. You see how much United struggled while he was on the pitch today. They were playing with 10 men until he went off.
As for Fulham. Madness. Pure madness. Mitrovic is a disgrace. Fair enough if the ref made a mistake but it was a stone wall penalty. Even after Silva was absolutely deluded in his interview as if they'd been hard done by with the decision. Hard to fathom.

Despite their high league position this season, imo a cup was their only real hope of getting into Europe this season.
For the stats/xG etc indicate that their results have been "better" than trheir actual performances have merited, especially early on. It is very difficult to maintain that for a whole season, meaning I think they'll do well to finish top half of the table - maybe 10th?
Denis Irwin wrote:

As per above, Mitro scored 9 goals in his first 13 PL appearances, but only 2 in the 16 games since. Tbf, he's had injuries and suspensions as the season has worn on, but it may also be the case that PL defences have worked him out by now?
While his squad back-up, Vinicius (2 goals in 18 PL appearances) simply isn't good enough for a PL team with serious ambitions, as was seen durinhg his previous loan spell at Spurs.

Quintessential flat-track bully. His two goals against Ireland in March 2021 are an encapsulation of what he does. Our defence was ropey that night, and our keeper had a bit of a mare. To the naked eye, the goals themselves looked pretty good, but against a robust defence he scores neither of those goals. I was surprised he was as prolific as he was this season, and his career has revolved around scoring a handful of PL goals, before dropping to the Championship and tearing it up, and coming back up.

Fair enough. But I never said he wasn't quality enough for the PL. My point is he is good enough against average opposition, but there is a reason a 'Top Six' club have never really come after him.
