No decison yet on the venue for the final I don't think. Seemingly Dallas or New York

Yep. Kansas, Houston, Seattle, Miami, Atlanta the ones that didn't host in 1994. Surprised Chicago lost out and Kansas got in

I'm literally just after walking by their live tv announcement outside Fox's headquarters in NY for this. Thought it was Fox announcing they had rights to the world cup in Qatar initially.

Was wondering what all the fuss was about   LOL

Hello guys sorry for looking so far in the future i think i saw today that there are 16 european places i was just wondering if you think they would do more places through groups or more places through playoffs
Thanks

11 Groups of 5 would probably be the most straight forward. Group winners qualify with. Runners up into the playoffs with the runner up with the worst record missing out. (11 Group winners plus the 5 playoff winners)

It will depend on whether UEFA want to use the Nations League as part of the playoffs like they did for this one.

You would imagine they will try do similar to this world cup with nations league teams also added to mix.
11 groups of 5.
Winners through
2 best runners up through
Rest of the runners up plus 3 nation league teams in play offs (12 teams) compete for the last 3 places with a semi final and a final

Is it normal to have 16 host cities? Seems a lot.

I was in BC Place in Vancouver last week for Canada vs Curacao, not a bad stadium, apparently holds 55,000 which is far more than I thought being in there. Easy accessible too. Some decent bars not too far a walk from the stadium in fairness too so should make a nice venue.

pity nashville missed out. stadium right in the centre of town and a stones throw from the honky-tonks. would've been an amazing host city as would denver which could have been combined with trips to yellowstone and the rockies.

LA, philly and atlanta on the other hand are all kips.

For me I would have liked Orlando to host again if only for the nostalgia and its a city I'm quite familiar with.

Chicago was a big miss as that part of the States misses out completely.  Kansas City FFS

No games in the capital city/region of the hosts is that a WC 1st I wonder.

Edit Nope West Germany 74 was the last time. West Berlin did host but wasn't the capital at the time

Used to go there a few times when i was living there not a bad stadium, they only open the bottom tier for the Whitecap games so it would be interesting with the top tier open too. Granville Street aint too far away with bars etc. Was in Seattle for a Seahawks game, that stadium is quality in fairness, it was the loudest in the world at one stage.

Pity Chicago pulled out, it's an amazing city.

Just reading on Toronto and they're using BMO Field... great location but they'll need to do a lot of work on it to get it up to scratch. I sort of assumed they'd have used the Rogers Centre to be honest but anyway.

Toronto as a host city should be absolutely buzzing, the amount of immigrants from all over means it's mad during World Cups. I was there during 2014 and whole streets were shut down when Brazil, Portugal, Italy, Mexico were playing. There's a huge Polish community there too

Vancouver is a great city, especially in the summer. Hotel prices though are really expensive, particularly in the summer, I can only imagine how expensive they will be. Edmonton would have been far more affordable, though not as nice a city.

Premier of Alberta said wanted 5 of the 10 games being given to Canada to be in Edmonton and wanted two knock out games. Shot himself in the foot.

I agree, that was definitely a mistake, though I think Toronto and Vancouver, being bigger, were likely to be preferred anyway.

Yeah it's a pretty small stadium. It's got plenty of space around it so they should be able to bump up the capacity it's 28,000 now. Not sure what the rules are on capacity for WC stadiums but it even if it was 500,000 it would still sell out.

The stadium is very close to me but I doubt I'll still be here in 2026

I have lived here for a few years and it's never been an issue that I have ever heard of. Toronto is a very safe city. Plenty of crazies walking about but rarely any trouble when going about the city.

BMO field is looking to upgrade and add another 18'000 seats. Its a nice enough stadium as it is and around it there is plenty of space for pre-game atmosphere.

Be brilliant if we managed to get through and play here. Massive Irish contingent here.

Sickened that DC or Baltimore weren’t chosen as would have been less than an hour from my gaff to either stadium.  Very unusual not to have games in the capital city of the biggest host country but FedEx is a kip and Audi Field not big enough I guess.  Shocked the Ravens stadium in Baltimore wasn’t picked though.

Philly, New Jersey and Boston would be a good combo for traveling to - the rest are all flights away from each other.

San Fran picked without even having an MLS team is an odd one.

I'd expect tickets to be very expensive and a nightmare to get hold of.

Obviously if we qualify we'll get an allocation.

Otherwise apply early and try to get family and friends to apply on your behalf in the general public ballots.

As the qualifiers are starting in March next year is there any word on when the draw will be?

You'd assume this December after the Nations League group matches finish in November.

Starts next March yeah and draw will be in December. With the expansion of the NLs to include relegation/promotion play offs, quarter finals for League A, and qualification group's now teams of five or four I think there'll b some teams who won't play qualifiers until September 2025 if they end up in a four team group which is mad.
