Perisic was up front for Croatia tonight.

They must have a lack of striker options but a poor defeat for them in a fairly tight group with all the teams apart from Malta capable of taking points of each other.

England's World Cup qualifier against Albania in Tirana on Sunday is at risk of being called off because of an issue over security.

The Albanian Football Association (AFA) said it has been informed by local police that the force cannot guarantee the safety of the teams.

"We will continue to liaise with the relevant authorities," the English Football Association said.

England open up their campaign  https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56438741" rel="nofollow - The next fixture should be against Albania, followed by Poland next Wednesday.

The AFA's dilemma follows its request for a restricted number of fans vaccinated against Covid-19 be permitted to attend the game, which was rejected by government.

The Group I match will therefore be played behind closed doors, and with no other lockdown measures in place in the country it could mean the area around the Air Albania Stadium could be busy, seemingly with no promise of adequate policing.

The AFA statement read: "Today a letter arrived which states that the structures of the local police directorate of Tirana do not guarantee the taking of measures before, during and after the Albania-England match on 28 March.

"Faced with the situation where the state authorities did not react after the request of the Albanian Football Federation for the release of spaces on the perimeter of the national stadium, we request urgent response of these structures.

"The cancellation of the Albania-England match scheduled to be played at Air Albania Stadium would have catastrophic consequences for the image of our country, the national team and in general for Albanian football."

Top seeds Croatia & Holland could have difficult time in topping their qualifying groups.

Wales are more or less guaranteed a playoff but just say Wales finished third in their qualifying campaign and Holland & Croatia were the only two top seeds that finished second in their group, would that prevent Wales getting into the playoffs through their Nations League group win?

These playoffs really need to be revised. Having a playoff guaranteed from that Nations League game just makes a mockery of the whole thing.

No as you have to win your Nations League Group to be in contention for a playoff this time. As long as 3 teams out of France, Belgium, Italy and Spain finish in the top 2 places in their qualifying group Wales will get a playoff spot.

Early days I know and I expect Spain to turn this around in the second half but at the moment they’re heading for 1 point from 2 games.

Denmark in our group in 1993 was the last WC qualifier Spain have lost.

Huge stroke of luck for Southgate:

Poland striker Robert Lewandowski will miss Wednesday's 2022 World Cup qualifier against England at Wembley with a knee injury.

The 32-year-old Bayern Munich player limped off during https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56556670" rel="nofollow - after scoring two goals.

The Polish FA say he faces up to 10 days out with ligament damage.

Could also be lucky for Pochettino:

No unnecessary chunk lifted from Wikipedia, no italics, no emboldened words, no picture that's far too big and only one emoji and one attempt at humour that predates the Great War. A poor effort.

So, I make an entirely unexceptional post, not directed at you or anyone else and it's already evoked 4 (FOUR) replies from you, each one adding precisely nothing to the previous one.

Of course you can claim that you're not wound up, merely "amused", but really? The same tired old lines, repeated virtually every time you reply to me?

So, I make an entirely unexceptional post, not directed at you or anyone else and it's already evoked 4 (FOUR) replies from you, each one adding precisely nothing to the previous one.

Of course you can claim that you're not wound up, merely "amused", but really? The same tired old lines, repeated virtually every time you reply to me?

If you're going to troll, at least try to come up with some new material now and again. Wink

Have ya not seen my post count? By the same token, this must have wound you up, but I doubt even someone who takes life as seriously as you would be wound up by a football forum. Maybe I am giving you too much credit. You can imagine an emoji here, if it helps.

Your post wasn't exceptional...by  your standards! For anyone else, sticking in a bit of an article in a font five sizes roo big would be exceptional. You can just say the point of it without Wikipedia, huge chunks of BBC Sport articles, images, videos, emojis, italics, emboldened etc.
The same old tired lines are a reference to your posts always being the same and often don't even manage to fit in to the forum. It is a skill to take a post saying a footballer is injured and turning into an eye test. It was both amusing and worthy of comment, or at least I felt so.LOL

Greed has won, big finance has won. Whatever small role elite clubs still play in the local communities from which they grew is dwarfed now by their position as global brands.

Mongolia are not higher ranked than Luxembourg, right?

Mongolia are 190th

Mongolian actually had some free kicks in dangerous areas though they couldn't clear the wall.
You would think they would know a thing or two about walls.

And just like London buses, here comes another one. (This forum really could do with a "Shakes Head in Bafflement" emoji)

Meanwhile fyi, when I cut and paste from another site, this site adopts the same format (size, font, bold etc).

Meanng that instead of spending 6 seconds reformatting it to suit your sensibilities, I merely took 3 seconds to post as is.

Lazy of me, I know, but still it saves you from having to think up something novel to troll about.

You could just not cut and paste,  especially when it is unnecessary; but please, continue, for when the whimsy takes me it amuses me to point it out! I just find the efforts you go to to post remarkable. I fully expect to see a post in 'comic sans' some day.

Was that a peno on Sterling?? I dont think so. Soon as he went into the box he was looking for something. I thought he left his leg in and fell over. And then screamed.

It was brain dead by the defender sliding in like that when he was going nowhere
His knee caught Sterlings calf it looked to me, and once there’s contact it’s a penalty whether he was looking for it or not

If you slide in like that and get nowhere near the ball and make contact with the man it’s a penalty

Maybe wasn’t in the 1980s

Sterling still was looking for it and still dived, but as we’ve seen this season a few times, if you don’t go down you don’t get the foul

Spain refuses to recognise Kosovo due to fears over Catalan and Basque seperatism, so Spanish television has deliberately put them as 'kos', deliberately in lower case, and the commentary is referring to them as the Kosovo Federation Team. That's incredibly petty.

Bit like Celtic refusing to say old firm, or their fans calling Rangers Sevco

Not anything like it at all really. This is a state broadcaster refusing to recognise an independent state while broadband a football match. Those things themselves may be silly or wrong in your view, but they aren't even remotely similar, unless you take football far too seriously!

You're taking my comment far too seriously

Both are petty
