I couldn’t find a thread regarding Grant and felt he deserved one.

I love the move to Huddersfield a side playing some nice football where he will get plenty opportunity to shine they haven’t a huge squad. Available for the next game Id be interested to see will he start in the FA Cup game at the weekend. You’d hope hel come off the bench at least.

The manager said he wasn't personally involved in signing him and all the noises are that he's "one for the future", so I wouldn't be getting my hopes up that he'll play Championship football this season.

Really? Christ you’d like to hear more positivity then that. 👀

I thought they made it clear enough that when he signed that he would be going into the u23 team for a spell to begin with that they didn’t consider him to be a first team player yet.

Town’s first choice left winger is out for about 3 months, so
I wouldn’t write Grant off yet. Could definitely make an impact, especially coming in ready off a full season

Edit: suggestion here that they might play Grant as a centre forward?

You asked if I'd be anyone from history, fact or fiction, dead or alive:
I said "I'd be Tony Cascarino, circa 1995"

I haven’t seen many interviews but did look at their squad make up etc.

I would hope he’d be in their first team squad tbh.

I'd be surprised if we saw him anytime soon.
Has to first get up to Championship speed and conditioning (I assume those requirements are degrees above the LOI) and then has to get integrated with how the manager wants him to play.

It's a promising move for him and if he gets some starts by the end of the season I'd say that's great progress.

Corberan has implemented the Bielsa style football at Huddersfield, considering he was no.2 at Leeds under Bielsa. He will wait until Grant has the required fitness and knowledge of the system before he will be given first team football

See the post above yours?

Although I'm hearing he was going to start before getting injured so maybe the manager isn't following the Bielsa pattern in full! 😂

He was talking to the media Friday so surely be to god he was in line to be in the squad at least? I’d imagine it’s an injury?

Wasn't he a development signing the first team manager wasn't even directly involved in  ?

I think he was going to be in the match day squad for their FA Cup game last month, and likely would've made his debut, but he got injured.

Yes, Corberan wasn't involved in his signing, but there's a decent chance he would've been fast-tracked into the squad simply for the amount of injuries they've had - only for him getting injured too.

Their Twitter had him down as an injury absentee all the way until yesterday.

Played 35 minutes in a match for their U19s a month ago.

Before promptly getting injured again.

“Danny Grant is continuing his recovery process. Before the break, he played some games with the Under-19s, but he still felt something in his hamstring. He is back again with the medical staff. I don’t expect to have him this year.

I hope he means this season as opposed to this year, but knowing our luck it'll be 2022 before he's fit again.

Sounds like Trevor Clarke. He's barely kicked the ball since the left rovers.

And?
Comparing him to Trevor Clarke who’s played little football for 18 months is complete nonsense.
Danny completed a full season of LOI before moving 3 months ago. I think some lads on here just love creating drama. The Kelleher thread is the same

So unlucky.

I knew he did his hamstring the week he joined but didn't realize he then injured his other hamstring in his return game with the u23s. Thought it was the same recurring injury.

Then to top it off after having a decent preseason, he catches a bad case of Covid.

Hopefully he gets a run of good luck now hes a very good player.

Got his first minutes since returning from injury during the week. 18 minutes off the bench for their B team. Apparently set up two very good chances.

SC: Just to address the players you mention...I wouldn't expect to see Danny Grant this season...there's just too much at stake to throw an untested player in and after that nightmare year last year he's got a bit of a way to go to be ready for the rigours of being a full-time pro having been part-time playing in Ireland.

Well Huddersfield look rubbish but Grant still didn't make the match day squad. If he's not going to be contention there he really needs to move on now.

Date Posted: 29 Jul 2022 at 10:43pm
He did play and score for the first team in a friendly last week, but yeah I don't think he's played competitive football since LOI 2020 season ended.

Even if he's close to Huddersfields first team, sitting on the bench is no good when he's been out so long. A loan would be best to get him back up to speed.

AT least he will finally get to play some senior football - L2 probably fine for now given the amount of football he has missed. Good luck to the lad, he's been very unlucky since he moved over.

They seem like a feeder club for Huddersfield so probably explains the deal, but he’s definitely capable of playing at a higher level than L2

I think so too, now he has the chance to prove it - if he can stay fit for a sustained period, he can still have a future at Huddersfield/Championship level.

He just needs games at this point after his bad luck with injuries and he should definitely get plenty of game time at League two level, he has the ability to excel at that level. I hope it works out for him and his injuries are behind him. He had a good preseason, I thought he might make the a few match day squads for Huddersfield on the back of that but not to be.
He could well be starting for Huddersfield in League One next season with the results they are getting so far but it is early doors for them.

Huddersfield labelled him a "B" player in their post about the move so he has a long way to go yet. Great to finally be in a position to get some first team games, even if it is in L2.

Yeah, almost 2 years since he last played first team football, he just needs to get a run of games. If he stays fit & excels then maybe he's recalled in January or sent to a L1 club.

Didnt pull up any trees in L2 with a poor enough Harrogate which doesnt bode well, but tbf he was out for a full season before that, so maybe he still has some scope to improve further.

Nothing official but say it mentioned on one of those fai fans pages. I'd have thought that a return to the LoI was more likely.

His nanager at Harrogate was full of praise for him.
Grant did ok the first half of the season got a few assists and a goal in one of the cups. He didn't seem to do much in the second half. He was 13 games out injured during the season, the biggest spell was at the tail end of the season where he was out all of April until the end of the season.
He will probably go on a few trials in the EFL looking for a contract. Might come back to the LOI if nothing works out in the UK.
