After 21 years playing at some level, and once being on the bench for Dublin City reserves and never, ever mentioning it, David 'Davey' Ennis has hung up his gloves. Signed by Dermot Keely at some point that Keely doesn't remember, Ennis went on to have a great career telling people he once played semi-professional football and occasionally appearing on football forums to say he knew other semi-professional footballers in a manner suggesting that he may be an unbearable ****.

All the best in retirement, superstar!

Greed has won, big finance has won. Whatever small role elite clubs still play in the local communities from which they grew is dwarfed now by their position as global brands.
