A goal for Jon Gallagher at Atlanta United again today. Seems to have been playing up front.

I looked up his college record for Notre Dame. He was top scorer for three consecutive seasons. The last person to do that for ND? Our own Joe Lapira

There were some issues recording my audio, so in places it does sound like I'm standing next to a jet engine, or shouting down a tunnel. Should be resolved for the next episode

Do you have stats on assists for Ireland?

I know this may only be recorded since 2000 but would be good to see how many Duff, Hoolahan, McGeady got etc

Some of them, assist stats are almost on opinion sometimes.
I'm working on a few other things at the moment, but compiling assist stats is on the list

There is a website statbunker that says McGeady got 8 assists for Ireland but it has only recorded he played 77 games for Ireland.

Not sure how reliable it is.

My post here may be of use to you, unfortunately I do not have the file available off hand (see below)
https://forum.ybig.ie/aiden-mcgeady_topic27877_page199.html" rel="nofollow - https://forum.ybig.ie/aiden-mcgeady_topic27877_page199.html

Let me know when you start work on your assists tets, I collected all goal videos, though only in 320x240, from 2004-2018 (and most of the ones I could find from maybe 1988-2004) and have them all listed in an Excel file with assists.  They are all on a hard drive at my parents' house in Chicago, and I won't be back there any time soon, but am happy to share it with you when I do.  I am not certain of what, exactly, my definition was for assist when I started it though.

To define assists, it is best either to use Opta's old, more objective method -- being that the ball must pass between the potential assisting player and the scorer without any touch off an opposition player between that pass and the scorer's final touch (though if the shot takes a touch, it is still an assist) -- or their new, more subjective (but expansive) method, available here
https://www.optasports.com/insight-for-fans/opta-s-event-definitions/#:~:text=Adding%20up%20a%20player%20or,will%20become%20a%20goal%20assist" rel="nofollow - https://www.optasports.com/insight-for-fans/opta-s-event-definitions/#:~:text=Adding%20up%20a%20player%20or,will%20become%20a%20goal%20assist .

I believe they only changed it because of this
https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11668/10870104/cesc-fabregas-given-assist-for-chelsea-in-middlesbrough-win-after-opta-review" rel="nofollow - https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11668/10870104/cesc-fabregas-given-assist-for-chelsea-in-middlesbrough-win-after-opta-review

In the Premier League, Duff has 55 assists, with Niall Quinn and Robbie Keane sharing second with 37

Hey Folks,

Is there any place online that lists all current Irish players and their clubs.
Some of the papers used to do it but cant see anything online about it.

Cheers

Last point is incorrect, Rochdale fielded seven Irish players ( Bazunu, McLoughlin ( NI ), McShane, O'Connell, Keohane, Ryan and Dooley ) in their starting line-up on 5 September 2020.

Just noticed that Rochdale also have seven Irish players on against Sunderland today. Same as above minus Ryan and Dooley, plus Shaughnessy and Grant.

Well, only McLaughlin and Dooley are from the north. The former has played for NI at senior level but I think only in friendlies, Dooley has played at underage levels, so it may possibly be that both are still eligible for Ireland. Not likely to happen anyway given Rochdale's form, they are bottom of League One as of today.

With the qualifying campaign for the World Cup in 2022 about to start, I'm joined by Mark Kennedy of Hawkeye Sidekick and Philip Flanagan of The Bottomless Pit of Football to discuss the players we'd like to see Stephen Kenny call up for the first two qualifiers against Serbia and Luxembourg, and the friendly against Qatar. What difference will new coach Anthony Barry make to the preparations and tactics for the games, and who will play against Wales in the U21s friendly?

That was a very good listen Joseph. Some really good points made, particularly around in game management. While I don't agree with everything, it was refreshing to listen to a mature and thoughtful reflection on the three games.

Labour TD for Dublin Bay North and tour guide for the Dublin Football Walking Tour Aodhán Ó Ríordáin joins myself, Mark Kennedy from Hawkeye Sidekick and Philip Flanagan from The Bottomless Pit of Football for a wide ranging discussion on the history of football in Ireland, and we name the players we want to see Stephen Kenny pick for the end of season training camp in Spain before facing Andorra and Hungary

I'm joined again by Mark Kennedy of Hawkeye Sidekick to discuss Stephen Kenny's 27 man squad to face Andorra and Hungary in two end of season friendlies, and his U21 counterpart Jim Crawford's 26 man squad who will line up opposite Switzerland, Australia, and Denmark, as well as going through the (few) highs and (many, many) lows for Irish players in the recently concluded 2020/21 season in England and Scotland: http://irish-abroad.appspot.com/Blog?id=2081335603893134703" rel="nofollow - http://irish-abroad.appspot.com/Blog?id=2081335603893134703

In the final episode of the international season, I'm joined by Mark Kennedy of Hawkeye Sidekick to review the friendlies against Andorra and Hungary, Troy Parrot's first strikes at international level, and what the performances of the three new caps could mean for the three World Cup qualifiers in September.

18 yr.old Anselmo Garcia McNulty has signed his first professional contract, a three year deal with Wolfsburg where he has been impressing since joining from Real Betis. This boy is a major talent, I believe he will be a top player for Ireland in years to come.

Can add Val Adedokun to the list. Just signed for Brentford. Goes into their B team initially as they don't have a youth set up.
