you'll never go poor backing 1-1 when Ireland play.

head says 1-1 , heart says home win ,

I went back a load of pages and couldn't find a prediction thread for this.

We will hit the Swiss with a brand of football they have not seen before. They won’t know what to do.

But yeah, 1-1 all the way.

Whelan and Hendrick midfield ffs. How could they not lose to a top ranked team?
They probably wont though, they'll bore a 1-1 draw.

Hard to see past a draw. At that a 0-0 draw. I selected 1-1 as a goal always lifts the atmosphere.

Duffy 1-0 would be orgasmic as I don't know where else we will score from.

We are nothing special but at the same time think we can expect that Mick will keep it tight and try nick one on the counter/ set piece much the same as Denmark away. Any team that conceded 3 goals in 6 minutes against the Danes shouldn’t be feared. The Danes weren’t anything special against us in June and we were every bit as good and had the better chances certainly towards the end so all to play for on Thursday.

0-0 I don’t think mc Carthy would have wanted to start Robinson. If doherty had have been available we would have had him and McLean sitting in front of Coleman and Stevens. It’s a do not lose game, stay in the group as long as we can and hope we get a massive stroke of luck.

Other European nations, keep the ball, press high, pass the ball, create space, pass, move and be dynamic in the final third.

We keep it tight and try and nick a goal in such an anti football way.

Who cares what other nations do. You can only try make the best use of the players we have. We have a good goalkeeper and solid back four. Do you honestly think we will have more possession than Switzerland and play lovely football? Probably the most creative player in our squad is Jack Byrne so unless some of the underage talent come through then things arnt changing any time soon.

I've said it before I absolutely hate that expression.  MON's favourite.  It just conjures up images of being absolutely sh*te, having zero creativity, and being generally ouplayed but somehow getting a result against all odds by a flukey goal off of some fellas arse from a hoof into the box.

''Pep how do you see this game playing out against Tottenham today?''
''Well they have quality all over the pitch.  It will be a really tough game.  We just hope to contain them and maybe nick a goal at some point.  We will try to win the game but if you offer em a draw now I would take it.''

Can't see where an Ireland goal is going to come from. We've only scored 5 (including an OG), and 3 of our 4 games so far were the easy ones. 0-0 best possible result I can think of

I'm going to say 1-1. They are better than us all over the pitch so i dont know where i'm getting that from, but another goal out of nowhere from a set piece would do us nicely.

We must beat either Switzerland or Denmark at home.

Predicted a 1-1 months ago, but I'll change that to a 1-0, if we maintain the type of performance we had against Georgia.

That requires "put 'em under pressure" from the first whistle, a goal from a set-piece and an all hands on deck defensive masterclass.

And the Richard Dunne man-of-the-match award, sponsored by Richard Dunne, going to Shane Duffy.

Think Enda Stevens is going to have to compensate for McClean on the left. Hopefully he'll continue his Sheffield form and cut in on the inside a few times to tee up McGoldrick/Robinson.

Best chance still is a Hourihane freekick or a Duffy header. We've no real dynamic midfielder who'll drive the team on, Hendricks excuses were pityful at the press conference. Hopefully Mollumby will flourish at Millwall and come into the side next year and get on the ball more. Think Arter could have been that player but doesn't seem to have been trusted to play, asides from that one outstanding game against the Dutch a few years back.

Hendrick is some flute. Absolute fanny. Thats the attitude that has him getting splinters in his arse at Burnley.

You could actually make a case for playing him in his best position though not in a number 10 role in a 4411 which we will probably line up in.

Ireland 1-0.
