Made his first league start for Derby today against West Brom. Can't say I watched too carefully, but he was playing as #10, had a few tidy enough moments. Also was on corner duty.

Can be happy enough with his performance for the most part. Couple of loose passes and lost possession in the build up to the West Brom penalty. Worked hard and seems to be versatile enough to play either as a 6 or 10. Fairly sure he only took 1 corner which was a training ground move. Dowell was on them for the rest of the game.

Irish players tend to get hyped up on her and are always apparently MOTM whenever they participate for so much as 2 minutes on a match. However in Knight's case based on objective sources he actually does seem to have been genuinely impressive. If he were english, qualified via the granny rule and scraping a few games together for the most wretched crisis ridden club in the history of the championship possibly, he would probably already have 10 pages of adulation and ass licking this weekend,as it is though I guess he'll have to work for his love.

Tuned in today in hopes of taking a closer look...only half time but Derby have been absolutely atrocious.
Between deciding to watch them and the Sheffield United have to question my decision making.

KIt’s a lot to ask of an 18 year old to play every week. He is developing faster than we all expected. He has a real Dublin head on him though. Not quite in the Stephen Geoghegan mould, more the Tobbie Brady type head, but he couldn’t be from anywhere else.

Objectively he did ok, I watched the game and he didn't look out of place at all.
Too early to rave about him yet but good that he's starting.
With molumby, knight, cullen and coventry getting some first team action it looks promising

Im not, my point is no one knows how these lads careers will pan out but to dismiss them becuase there playing Championship football at 18 and 20 is a bit much.

Jazzy Jeff aka Houdini. He loves to disappear for 90 mins while these youngsters actually like to get on the front foot by demanding the ball and passing it.
Basic midfield play but unfortunately the majority of our midfielders are incapable of doing this for Ireland.

I don't base player assessments on remarks from randoms on twitter as seems to be a popular way of talking about our less well known championship players on here (never see the negative feedbacks or course) but what I do like about Knight he is always looking to create and score goals which isn't a big feature of most our midfield options so should hopefully emerge as a rival to Hourihane in the future.

Well he will end up with 80-100 caps more than likely. So he's probably not the best example (although i agree since Euro 2016 he has been poor).
Leaving Cullen to one side as he is a bit older, what the other guys are doing is quite remarkable. Theres not many teenage English central midfielders playing in Championship let alone PL, so the likes of Molumby playing regularly at 20 and Knight semi-regularly at 18 is really impressive.

Owen Garvan played hundred games in championship as a teenager, he fell by wayside, what will be impressive is they are consistant and get a decent move to top flight or when they return from loans that they crack and keep developing. Lads like Hendrick seem to stop progressing and improving once they get there big move and happy to be a 6/10 player. I wont get excited until these lads prove themselves consistent at bigger clubs

He was poor before the last Euros too! He has had two or three decent games and the odd moment here and there. It’s a sad reflection on our options that he will get that many caps.

High praise from Rooney too.hopefully take some him under his wing and he learns a thing or two from Him. The way some of the young lads are developing and the way things are going for whelan and Hendrick you never know in March who’ll be in the middle of the park. How refreshing would it be to see a midfield of knight molumby McCarthy.

With derby a midfielder down early on, this game should have been for the taking.
I think Holmes was my MOTM but knight wasn't that far behind him. Played centre left of midfield and was box to box for the whole game.
Everything was done at 100 miles an hour but was a mature performance and really should have had a hat trick at the end

Watching the match here. Derby are pretty brutal. Barnsley with more of the play and Derby just bashing it away and not stringing any passes together. Knight and Rooney in the middle out of it but can't fully blame them as nobody in white has put a foot on the ball.
EDIT - as soon as I posted, Derby missed a sitter!

Knights been good when he's had the ball, always looking to play direct.
But he doesn't seem suited to playing on the wing

I wouldn't say he's playing as a winger but more a centre-left midfield position.
Really great energy about him, is definitely a box to box player with a bit a strength about him too.
I think he'll get some goals over a season, seems to get in the box a lot

He can move to a square that is two squares away horizontally and one square vertically, or two squares vertically and one square horizontal. Unlike all other standard chess pieces, knight can "jump over" all other pieces (of either color) to its destination square

He can move to a square that is two squares away horizontally and one square vertically, or two squares vertically and one square horizontal. Unlike all other standard chess pieces, knight can "jump over" all other pieces (of either color) to its destination square |

I think he naturally plays in the position Hendrick SHOULD be playing in (not going missing) one of the advanced midfielders, but he has been playing mostly on the wing for Derby
