Im sure 2 or 3 of the England squad in 66 had an Irish parent or grandparent.

Carlos MacAllister was of Irish heritage, Brown’s name came from Scotland. ------------- Greed has won, big finance has won. Whatever small role elite clubs still play in the local communities from which they grew is dwarfed now by their position as global brands. |

Indeed, Brown's ancestors left Scotland for Argentina in 1825. Carlos MacAllister had both Irish and Scottish ancestry. The fact that MacAllister's ancestors did not drop the "a" from the Mac suggests they came from the Highlands. Possibly victims of the Highland Clearances.
