We should have a scoring system for this (negative scoring works best, so the closer to zero you finish, the better):

Champions: 0 if you get it right, -1 for each place away they finish (e.g. if they finish fifth, you get -4 points)

Top four: 0 if you get all three right, -1 for each place away they finish (e.g. if they finish first, fourth and fifth, you get -1, 0 and -1 = -2 points)

Relegation: the same system as for top four

Top scorer: 0 if you pick the top scorer, -1 for each goal off the top they finish (so if they end up 5 goals away, -5 points)

Top assists: the same system as for top goalscorer

Players player of the year: 0 if you pick the winner, -1 if you pick a nominee, -6 if your choice is not nominated (assuming there are six nominees)

Young players player of the year: the same system as for players player of the year

Manager of the year: 0 if you pick the winner, -1 if you pick a nominee, -4 if your choice is not nominated (assuming there are four nominees)

First manager sacked: 0 if you pick the first sacked, -1 if you pick the second sacked, etc, up to -x (where x is the total number of managers sacked before the end of the season, assuming your choice is not sacked)

FA Cup Winner: 0 if you pick the winner, -1 if you pick the beaten finalist, -2 for beaten semi finalist, etc

League cup winner: the same system as for the FA Cup

Will VAR improve the game: I'm ignoring this

The winner gets a smug sense of self-satisfaction. Bump this thread at the end of the season and I'll do the scoring.

Does Planning usually make predictions in this thread, or just spend the season moaning at others not tipping Liverpool for the title?

Don't bother. There won't be any winner, given that every single poster has gone for the same team to be champions. So they'll all "win" or all "lose".

I will make one prediction.

Will VAR improve the game: Absolutely.

Interesting logic. You aren't playing because no one is tipping your beloved team to win the league.

Why don't you stick your neck out and make a set of predictions instead of pontificating all season of how wrong everyone else was, only for them all to actually be proven right in May.

Champions: Liverpool (by 5/6 points I think)

Rest of top Four: City Spurs... Mind the gap... Everton (pipping Chelsea/Arsenal)

Relegation: Newcastle (finish bottom) Norwich Palace for some weird feeling!

Top scorer: Salah

Top assists: De Bruyne

Players player of the year: Salah

Young players player of the year: is sterling still eligible LOL cert if so

Manager of the year: Klopp

First manager sacked: Bruce by October latest I reckon. Probably September

FA Cup Winner: Arsenal

League cup winner: Arsenal (just like '93 was it)

Will VAR improve the game: it should but there will be issues. I've no doubt in 2-3 years time it will be a big plus. One thing is for sure the PL won't make the game an abomination with the VAR application, as was done time and again this summer. I also look forward to every handball being awarded as a penalty this season LOL oh and the realisation that Spurs got absolutely shafted in the CL final, as time after time incidents like Sissoko are adjudged to be not penalties by VAR this season LOL

I think quite a few of you are underestimating Newcastle this season. They've made quality signings plus Almiron is going to shine. I expect them to stay up quite easily. Will post up my predictions in the next day or so.

Greed has won, big finance has won. Whatever small role elite clubs still play in the local communities from which they grew is dwarfed now by their position as global brands.

Hope so, I like them as a club, but for me, they've lost their 3 best assets from last season (Benitez/Perez/Rondon), and have only added 2 lads I've never heard of. Gonna be a fairly toxic atmosphere up there if they don't get a good start. Bruce isn't a stranger to relegation either.

Therefore they might now want to review their predictions, so they can still be proven right come May.

Don’t know when I said that.
If it’s any consolation to you I got it wrong last year too as I tipped Liverpool

Enjoy your procession to the title. It could be a record points and winning margin the way things are going, and change the record from bookies betting odds and fans predictions being wrong

You've got to love Planning calling out all those outrageous predictions of City winning the league this season. This is the same lad who said repeatedly during the summer that every handball in the penalty area would result in a penalty being awarded this season LOL this is the guy calling out everyone.

"I called him an embarrassment to FIFA and to himself," .... He said 'No-one speaks to me like that'.... and I said, "well I do' and that was that."

Enjoy your procession to the title. It could be a record points and winning margin the way things are going,

It could be anything. That's why I don't make predictions. Anything can happen in football. 15 posters all predicted City would win it again, because apparently they have a so called "better" squad. A better squad where one injury to one centre back = chaos and mayhen.

As it is, Liverpool have a 8 point lead, should Leicester win their game in hand. It's not a lot with 22 games still to go, and it certainly isn't a procession yet.

You did say that, it's there in black and white, and it's not that difficult to find in this thread either. And we also know you got your prediction wrong last year, as you reminded us all within an hour of the end of the last game of the season.

You didn’t bump last years incorrect predictions though, funnily enough

It’s only a bit of fun, think you take the spirit of this thread a bit too serious. It isn’t life or death.

If we could all predict 100% there would be no bookies!!

Most people went for Man City
Nobody picked Lesta for top 4

A lot of people said Newcastle, Brighton or Sheffield Utd would go down but they are all doing well.
