With all the money Real Madrid have spent this transfer window will they win the title this season even though I'd say the CL will be their priority?

Had to google it:

S.A.D. =  sociedad anónima deportiva = a limited liability corporation created under a 1990 Spanish law for the purpose of operating competitive sports teams.

Some other Spanish football organizations have long-standing structures as private athletic clubs, track or sporting clubs, or social clubs, and one may see other abbreviations used as part of their names:
CA = Club Atlético
CF = Club de Fútbol
FC = Futbol Club (FC Barcelona is owned and operated by its supporters)
RCD = Real Club Deportivo, a sports club with a royal patent
UD = Unión Deportiva

Anyone on here been to the Mestella before? I'm thinking of going to Valencia v Real Sociedad on the opening day. There's no information on the ticket section on the Valencia website. Is it difficult to get tickets on the website? Do you have to be a member or anything like that?

Is this definitely gonna be all season btw?  From the reports I saw about this last night, I got the impression it was only for the 1st few weeks with ITV still to negotiate a deal for the rest of the season.

Aye, I suppose, but in small doses - for me anyway.  He's different from other co-commentators, I'll give him that but when the novelty factor about him wears off, I find him just annoying after a while.

Good weekend for games and great that most of the games are back on TV. No studio guests or pundits on Premier's coverage but that's not necessarily a bad thing. HT is annoying though.

Good win for Barca, Ansu Fati is some prospect. 16 years old and scores in two consecutive games.

Joaquin scoring for Betis, scored in 18 consecutive seasons now. Celta with two men sent off in the first half hour and lose at home to newly promoted Granada. Real Madrid almost blow a 3 goal lead, Atletico lose in the new Anoeta and Osasuna are still unbeaten after 4 games. Leganes look dead certs to be relegated.

I see La Liga is having another try with the Sapnish FA to get permission to stage another league game overseas - this time Atletico vs Villareal in Miami on 6th December:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50085162" rel="nofollow - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50085162

According to Atletico Madrid chief executive Miguel Angel Gil Marin: "We would be able to bring Spanish football closer to the fans and followers who live outside of our country.

That's right, Atletico fans in, say, L.A. are a thousand miles closer to the venue than those in Lisbon, while those in Mexico City are only a couple of thousand miles away.

I can see a repeat of 15/16 season when it’s finished very close at the top.
Difference between Barca 1st and AM 3rd was only 3 pts.
AM lead at the 1/2 stage.

Barca are desperate for the champions league. One win (&Final) in 8 years is very poor for a team like that.
Messi won’t be around forever.

Ateltico aren’t good enough anymore. They’re in serious decline. I’d say Jan Oblak is the only reason they’re still in contention.

If Real Madrid get their act together, they should win the league. Barca’s away form is abysmal but they’re very strong at home.

The league isn’t as strong as it was two years ago and it’s miles behind where it was five years ago.

Valverde was never popular at Barcelona but the way he was treated was terrible, I'd say Xavi would have loved to take over but obviously had enough respect and integrity towards Valverde not to take the role.

I agree with Seiten plays decent football, a disciple of Cruyffian ways I seen which should suit Barcelona down to the ground.

Whether he'll see out his 2 and half years though i'm not sure.

Disagree, the way Barca went out of the Champions League over the past two seasons was embarrassing, Fair enough he won 2 titles but the style of football was poor and think he has the worst win percentage record of the 5 previous managers.

Setien is a great appointment, his Betis side were a joy to watch and he had Betis playing the way Barca should be playing.

Setien is a great appointment, his Betis side were a joy to watch and he had Betis playing the way Barca should be playing.
He won 2 out of 2 league titles. Currently top of the league and won a tough group in the Champions League. The least he deserved was to keep the job until the end of the season. I read last night that he has the highest win percentage of any Barca manager. He nearly had an unbeaten season the year before last. Lost the 37th league match 5-4 to Levante. The board made him drop Messi for that match so he could play in a midweek friendly match in Qatar or somewhere like that. I also think he only lost two Champions League matches.

Disagree, the way Barca went out of the Champions League over the past two seasons was embarrassing, Fair enough he won 2 titles but the style of football was poor and think he has the worst win percentage record of the 5 previous managers.

Well that's not true, I know Luis Enrique, Pep and Tito all had a superior win percentage.

The second point may be correct but when you consider the total embarrassment of the defeats to Roma and Liverpool I don't think you can give him credit for his Champions League record.

Real Madrid are nowhere near the team they were a few seasons ago and they are separated by goal difference this season, it was definitely the right call to sack him now as things were stagnating.

He's got a 67% win percentage. What are the prevoius 4 managers win percentages so?

Tired of Real and Barca dominating the league, so hopefully Atletico and Sevilla can stop dropping silly points, get over 80 points and at least keep the pressure on the other two.

Atletico not impressive at all here
0-0 at home to Leganes with five minutes left
Liverpool will have too much for them

Someone in Barca's Medical Department should be updating his CV, and very soon:

Ousmane Dembele: Barcelona winger tears hamstring on return to training

Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele, who has not played since November, has suffered a serious hamstring tear on his return to training.

The France international, 22, pulled out of training on Monday.

The club said tests have revealed "a complete proximal hamstring tear in his right thigh".

Dembele was making his comeback from https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50606908" rel="nofollow - a muscle injury in his right thigh sustained against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on 27 November.

Barcelona added they would shortly decide "on the treatment to be followed for his recovery".

Spanish outlet Marca said Dembele will now miss the rest of the season.

Talking potentially 6-12 months recovery for that injury apparently. I think Dembele is finished at Barcelona now.

Athletic, Sociedad, Mirandes and Granada the 4 semi finalists, hopefully an all Basque final

Great to see both Barca and Real knocked out for a change.

I think they reformatted that cup so there'd only be two legs in the semis and the smaller teams had home advantage in the earlier rounds. Open to correction on this.

Mirandes are right on the border of the Basque Country as well. Now they wouldn't exactly characterise themselves as Basque but they are right there.

Yeah only the semi finals have 2 legs now.
They have a seeding system.

But Real don’t give a crap about it.
I think it’s 2 wins in the last 25 years.

Was living in Bilbao for their last final against Barcelona a few years ago. City came to an absolute standstill. Atmosphere in the city in the lead up was absolutely incredible. Bilbao needs to win that cup again. Fourth most successful club in Spain but so deprived of silverware since the 80s. Dreaming of an all Basque final in the heart of Spain.

Would be happy for any of those sides to win it. A Basque final would be brilliant but I'd also like to see Mirandes win it. Was great to see Bobby Soldado rolling back the years and scoring twice against Valencia and to properly celebrate after scoring against his former club.

Ridiculous that it's not on any TV station here though.

Looks like an all Basque final but both clubs tend to slip up when they shouldn't so there could well be a big shock

both games were on Bet365, I know it’s poor quality, but watchable. I agree with you tough, great excitement in both games, shame it’s not on the normal channels. Would love Bilbao to win it.

I can’t watch it on full screen on my phone anymore for some reason. Only a tiny box appears which is about half the size of the screen.

Sooner Bartomeu is gone the better.
