Would have expected James McCarthy to be involved in the training camp (not the squad for the 2 games that follow) to keep his rehabilitation going.

Never even thought about him tbh

Still think a few more will be called up, as a few of those may be involved in playoffs finals

I doubt more will be called up, given that 7 will be cut from this provisional squad.

Tough on shamrock rovers having Byrne called up, I presume no league of Ireland players will be going to the toulon tournament.

surprised at Westwood not being in it? Anyone know why? Wouldn’t be overly confident if Randolph picked up an injury and we only had O’Hara and Travers.

Although I do know this might not be the final squad.

Really odd that Westwood isn’t there, other than that it’s as you would expect.

I'd say he has little or no interest in turning up to sit on the bench at this stage of his career. I wouldn't be surprised if he has opted out

I was thinking similar. I wouldn’t be surprised if he had jacked the whole thing in.

There's no indication that he has retired, but I couldn't blame him for it if he has simply been left out of this squad. Probably our best performing keeper over the ladt 2/3 months.

If you're talking about James McCarthy he shouldn't be there. One senior appearance in almost 18 months for 20 mins.

Not sure if he is omitted by choice or whether it's injury related as I think he has a broke foot or something, and he has the play offs.

Keogh will miss. Keogh got caught in the second goal...his fault...and in the first one he miskicked it...but he created two goals...failed as the main defender but created chances.

Wouldn't say you'd get in there but you might see some players in Maria's or Julia's restaurants on the beach or in The Cheeky Pup if they're being let out for a few drinks. Likewise, the Quinta shopping centre will probably have a few knocking about it in the evening.

I think Mon-Roy were ethical on Rice. but you can't trust in England they will get anyone around. They didn't qualified for 1994. Almost out in 2002 . Rice won't get much caps when the hype is over. Lawro was right about it he should have remained in green. But another day another dollar. Actually he remained in other green

I'd doubt he's suddenly "not ars*d" considering he's been happy to play second fiddle for most of the last 10 years despite probably deserving to be 1st choice for 4/5 years of that decade. I would say it's more likely he either injured; or Mick just doesn't see the point in having a 34 year old second choice and wants to give younger keepers a go (much the same reason as Doyle and Elliot haven't been called up).

Great to Travers and Connell in there, really nice to see us building for the future.

Bolton triggered a 1 year extension. This means they can command a higher fee. Still think he'll be at pastures new come August.

On the back of his current "heat" and now getting a international call up, I'm sure he's being advised to move on from the now League 1 side now. 6 months time, who knows where bolton/his form could be. Hope he chooses wisely though.

He was brought up in the Irish flats near the docklands, he lived on the second floor

Yeah I thought that was him alright. He lives upstairs from me

I think he might have seen me before. Not sure though.

Any word on Arry Arter?? He didn't appear in the last few Cardiff City matchday squads.

Surely he's carrying a knock as Mick seems to rate him.

Good to see this one coming on. The Rice situation kicked as badly in the football world like if we were a pub team! Rice and Grealish before don't understand the word honor.

What has this to do with the training camp?

From quotes I read McCarthy said that Connell could play his way into the squad.

Could show up to the training camp and be sh*te.

As a matter of interest, whats the point of going to Portugal as opposed to a training camp at home this time of year?

Any number of high quality facilities here now (Carton, Fota etc.) . All set up to cater for teams at the highest level. Just seems a missed opportunity to support Irish business but more importantly to have the team somewhere on the island and engaging with the Irish public a little more, particularly in some non-Dublin location.
