Given the summer was pretty quiet I think Jan will be more eventful.

The big 6 all have fringe players they are willing to offload.

Seems that the top scorer in the CSL last season, Wu Lei, may be leaving Shanghai SIPG. Always thought his game would suit a league like the Bundesliga but with a number of Chinese owned clubs in England, it will be interesting to see if he ends up there.

Nasri arrived at West Ham on New Years Eve. DM mentioned it over on the WHU thread.

Under previous regimes I would have seen this as a vanity signing, with a view to marketing it as signing some sort of worldy. Arbeloa and Evra spring to mind in that regard. However, I think this might be different. He has been scrutinised for the past six weeks, and he played his best football under Pelligrini when at City. I also don’t believe he would risk the spirit of the team if he felt Nasri didn’t fit.

He's been training for about 2 months with WH so they've had a good look at his fitness/ability/attitude.

Others being linked to WH at the moment are Clyne and Drinkwater.

He don't even want to sell. Sky made a story out of it while he was doing an interview by House of Lords regarding saving the high street.

He's not buying players, decent ones atleast and he's not selling the club because he's far too invested in House of Fraser to the point he's probably forgotten where Newcastle is.

https://www.whoscored.com/Players/33799/Show/Mario-Balotelli" rel="nofollow - - Nice , but he and new manager Patrick Vieira have not seen eye-to-eye. Vieira confirmed that he had given the striker a leave of absence to consider his future last month and Balotelli has not featured since 4 December, which was his 10th league game without scoring all season. His run of 38 shots without finding the net stretches back to last May and it seems more than likely that the 28-year-old has scored his last goal for the club.

You would think given Reals league form over the last 18 months big investments will be made in the summer.

Hopefully that's the last player to leave for nothing and to have been mishandled by the club in terms of contracts. Hoping the new lads in from Dortmund are better at managing contracts than what was in place previously.

In fairness, Ramsey is rumoured to be going to get 280k a week before tax if he does sign for Juve. I wouldn't blame the Arsenal board for not offering that, it's crazy money for a player of his quality, I really don't get why Juve are supposedly giving him that much

Don't get me wrong, it would be ridiculous if the board offered him those wages for a player who misses a good chunk of each season through injury. I'm more concerned that rather than being able to sell a player like him for 40-50 million, he's being allowed to leave for free. The club can't afford to miss out of transfer fees like that, especially with no CL money coming in.

Only a handful of clubs in Europe can pay those wages.

Clive Allen on the radio this morning was asked does he think Arnautovic is away, he said it seems like it and that his brother seems to be advising him really badly.
Why do football fans always blame the agent when a player wants to leave their beloved club? Its as if these footballers are brain dead and have no opinion on anything and just do whatever their agent tells them.
We've heard it with Raheem Sterling, and Wayne Rooney when they wanted to leave Liverpool and Man United for example. Utter bollocks.

You'd swear these agents were holding a gun to their clients heads, making them do things that they don't want to do and that the players are totally powerless and have no mind of their own.

That is a ridiculous fee for Wilson. He's good  but 75m for a player who hasn't actually broke double figures in a premier league season (albeit he has 9 this term so most likely will) who has a history of serious knee injuries

Posted By: HuntysCousin
Date Posted: 14 Jan 2019 at 12:44pm
Is there anything credible behind that speculation, or is it more of the usual bull that comes around every transfer window? The fee was said to be 50m only a few days ago, I’d love to know where this extra 26m has come from.

Posted By: Hans Moleman
Date Posted: 14 Jan 2019 at 2:05pm
50 million is ludicrous for Wilson also. Actually Chelsea going for Wilson at all is a bit mad. He's a decent player, but no more. There isn't a team in the top 6 who should be even considering him, unless they are struggling hugely for homegrown players, but even at that it's a terrible move.

I see West Ham are being linked with him also and that would make far more sense. A team trying to become a regular top 10 side and kick on beyond that in the next few seasons.

One of the truly great things about the NHS, unfortunately, it is the main reason for the waiting lists.

Tell me about it Confused

I'm surprised Burnley let Vokes go?

That is what surprised me, I rate Vokes, he's a handful of a striker who is only 28/29, put it this way would I be disappointed if Newcastle had bought him simple NO

When he came to Stoke he hugely raised the profile and was a catalyst in better players coming to the club after him. He's probably still got some goals in him, coming off the bench.

Stoke released https://twitter.com/i/status/1091052418064887808" rel="nofollow - this video of his highlights at the club. Lots of neat finishes and not all headers, including his wonder goal against Man City.

That said, capturing Vokes is a great deal for stoke.

And this is the rationale I'd imagine. He's a good option off the bench - definitely a better one than Vokes. Vokes was more or less their third choice striker.

I'm not in a sense knocking Crouch, he'll do a job and will be happy to sit on the bench something which I'd imagine Vokes was unhappy to do

I think in a way it's a deal that works for both clubs really.

It's also a sign of what an utterly sh*te transfer window it was that we're even discussing Crouch moving to Burnley. LOL

How can a whole transfer window be 'sh*te'? I can understand it for individual clubs, but as a whole? Do people really get excited about players moving from one club they don't support to another club they don't support?

Greed has won, big finance has won. Whatever small role elite clubs still play in the local communities from which they grew is dwarfed now by their position as global brands.

To be fair the last couple of January transfer windows haven't featured a whole lot of activity. There was a few years where there was a flurry of moves that really impacted how the season progressed (2011 for example) but more recently clubs have tended to hold off until the summer.

How is the guy sessegnon doing for Fulham?
Spurs and a few others were heavily linked with him over the summer.

Bullet dodged?
