Spain putting 6 past finalists Croatia was certainly a shock result.

Is it me or is the Nations League going to be much harder in the future than currently when you have the likes of Italy and Holland (presumably) going down to Group B and some of the more irritating minnows such as Georgia coming up from the lower groups?

I was very sceptical about the Nations League but it seems to be a good edition to the international calender.

I really enjoy it for one!

I think it will eventually even out

For example, Iceland will probably stay in and around League B for the next couple of seasons.

I'd say the likes of England/Croatia, Poland/Italy, Netherlands will yoyo between A and B.

Can see ourselves being comfortable enough to do the same between B and C.

Macedonia and Georgia have shown already they are better then there League D placings so if they are involved there they will most likely get promoted.

So far I have loved it the lower leagues especially as there is so much on the line for them finish top you get promoted and guarantee yourself a passage to the Euros with two wins.

I've really enjoyed it so far and most teams seem to be taking it seriously. There's been some very good games and plenty of goals so far.

Some great potential play-off finals on the cards in C and D.

Georgia or Macedonia for me in League D depending on draw I'd imagine they will be seeded

As for Group C

Bulgaria, or Serbia/Montenegro

Serbia/Montenegro- for the above do you think there would be any potential trouble at this?

If Scotland win their nations league group, and then finish 4th in the euro qualifying group, ok so they get a second chance/play off to get into the Euros?

Is this a two legged match?

Is this the same for all divisions of the nations league?

They will go into the playoff against the other highest finishing League C teams who haven't qualified.
They will play a semi final and final against two of the other placed teams.

Looking at the tables this is currently
Scotland, Finland,Bulgaria and Montenegro

the best and 4th placed teams play each in one semi the other two in the other and the winners then play each to qualify

so  at the moment

Scotland v Montenegro
Finland v Bulgaria

Yes this is the same for all divisions

Fraggle Rock had a surprise result too. How bad are Armenia? You would think Mkhitaryan would have had a field day against non-league players.

Think they had 36 shots with 10 on target.

What's depressing about that result is that Gibraltar beat them by the exact same score as we did in 2010.

Wrong choice of word but the fact that Gibraltar managed an away win by the same score as us highlights how bad we have been down through the years.

He hasn't scored for Italy in over a year. It's amazing how unpopular he is there despite his record in Serie A

Can understand why they didnt play with a recognised striker, Balotelli started last time out and he was hopeless! The link up play between Insigne, Chiesa and Bernardeschi was great to watch with Jorginho and Verratti dictating the game all night.

Then again a striker did set up the winning goal for them LOL

Croatia getting revenge against Spain sets up a great finale to the group on Sunday.

Whoever wins from England v Croatia goes through with the other getting relegated, if it's a draw then Spain go through.

We are a middle to lower League C side, on paper anyway. With a manager that doesn't care, we are probably League D, with a real effort to change that from a man with a plan, we would be pushing for promotion.

For almost 30 years (1988-2016) we were well ahead of Wales qualifying for 6 tournaments to their 1.

Now they're miles ahead of us.Shocking turnaround in a short space of time. This is a certainly a very average generation of Irish players but complete incompetence from MON and Delaney has exacerbated the current gulf in class

we’re definitely 1 place ahead of NI in the back door offs. If only 15 of the 20 pot 1/2 teams qualify we get a playoff spot and they don’t.

So a draw is no use to us against Denmark as it wouldn’t get us a higher ranking-need to win

Has EIRE ever hammered a good team or top team?  Does 3-0 against the USSR count?  I dunno. Anything else?

Switzerland, England, Portugal and possibly the Dutch to win the A groups.
Belgium, France, Spain all kept from topping their respective geoups, and  Germany and Croatia even relegated. Bizarre.

Would North not be 3rd seeds like ourselves?

All Roberto Martinez's management jobs seem to go along similar lines. He starts very well for about 18 months or so.Then one day the players seem to go; this lads a spoofer who can't organise a defence and it's all downhill after that.Have we now reached that point with Belgium?

I think modern players have a cut off point where they stop listening. Some coaches can extend that somewhat but the likes of Mourinho, Rodgers and Martinez (a bit unfair putting mourinho in the same category as them) won’t get results with the same rhetoric after a while.

Belgium have lost 2 competitive games since September 2016 Confused

Belgium could hammer a good team 3-0/4-0, Martinez gets no praise and yet as soon they don't win a match he's a spoofer.

I watched that game last night and it was more down to individual errors/performances than blaming the tactic/manager.

Boyata/Witsel/Chadli etc were dreadful.

I still think a good manager would have won the World Cup with them. He got the tactics all wrong in the semi-final.

Greed has won, big finance has won. Whatever small role elite clubs still play in the local communities from which they grew is dwarfed now by their position as global brands.

Spoofer or not, I'm delighted Martinez got that kick in the bollocks against the truly unlikable Swiss* who were always cxxts to beat.

*Their likability has gone up a tad since they despatched a British statelet in the world cup playoffs and the Belgians yesterday. Clap

It's probably more Alexander Frei hate than Swiss hate. Here's Kinsella trying to take him out.
