Going to the US on Sunday.
Whats the craic with these VPN things for your phone. Would like one so I can get on betting sites and watch football on BBC/ITV websites while over there. No clue how to go about it though?

Similar question, can anyone recommend a vpn that will work on an LG webos smart TV. Would like to unblock the BBC iplayer which is available through freesat on the TV, but geoblocked.

Yeah, would love one for RTÉ, wouldn't even mind paying a few quid if I knew it was guaranteed to work.
Also, if someone has somewhere where I can watch games on ITV without resorting to Fox streams it would be great. The ITV hub would drive a sane man mental, never mind me.

I use IP Vanish which works pretty well, has an iOS app, presume it has an Android one. Very straightforward to use.

Download the app through the app store and sign up / sign in (not sure if you can sign up in the app or it has to be their website)
Just open the app, sign in and select Ireland as the country when you're abroad and click connect. Your betting apps should al work as normal then.

I use Private Internet Access on my laptop, had a quick google there and there's an app I can download to use on my phone also. My laptop connects to London automatically so I'd assume I could do the same with my phone.

Nord VPN appears to be the best.

just after getting this one -  https://www.skycards.eu/product/ba-vpn-service/" rel="nofollow - https://www.skycards.eu/product/ba-vpn-service/

it's an official VPN for sky, so it means that you never have to worry about it being blocked when using sky player. also works perfectly for itv player, bbc player, rte player etc.
very good price too, £4.99

Thanks for the info lads and apologies if this is a stupid question but if I download a paid app on an android phone, how does that scramble the geoblocking on the TV? I'm told the TV can't have VPN put on it directly and the virgin media hub cannot have a vpn placed on the router.

Also, if anyone has an LG smart TV, would highly recommend usmart.tv for iptv service.

The VPN is a software client.

You can't install software on a router.

The point of a VPN is to create a secure tunnel from location A to B usually to either encrypt the traffic or in this case hide your IP location.

If you connect to a VPN London for instance, all your internet traffic is going from your laptop through the VPN tunnel and exiting in London.

When you try and connect to say the BBC player - the BBC player router will look at the incoming source IP and will see that it's in England and allow the traffic.

If your IP is not included in it's local GEO location, the traffic will be dropped.

Thanks HB. How about a DNS proxy without a VPN?

Yes that is doable too as you are mapped to an optimal server based on your DNS request\location.

Lads, what's the best way to change your VPN to subscribe and watch a streaming service not available in Ireland on my laptop. Would i be best to download an app to the laptop or do I just change a setting?
