Paul Casey won (-10) against a strong field at the weekend with the best score of the day of 65. The big news was Tiger was joint second on -9 Ahead of Garcia/Rose/Scott/McLlroy/Spieth Be good to see Tiger back playing at a high level. For me he is the best there ever was and ever will be. Think Tiger is third favorite for Masters. I agree will be good to see him back to his best, there seemed a time when he unstoppable and he was far beyond any other golfer, highlighted by the fact when he was out injured/ on leave he stayed number 1 for about a year and half before he was overtaken. |

I love watching the younger lads like Spieth, Thomas etc but no player creates a buzz like Tiger. Delighted with how he played over the four days, that stinger shot with the driving iron is a thing of beauty. |

I have always maintained that there is a least one Major win left in him, so good to see him back playing well. +1 No player provides that buzz like Woods does. I presume viewing figures will be up for last weekend with Tiger in the hunt. Great to see Phil winning in Mexico last week. Spieth has the potential, DJ not so lovable, Rory should have stayed away from Wozniacki and the gym. |

Dunne is No75 in the world, just ahead of Lowry at 77. Padraig is No 198 and GMac is now No. 217. I thought Lowry would really kick on after his PGA win a few years ago. Willet who won the Masters in 2016 in around the 300 mark now. ------------- |

Masters Week is upon us Really hard to find value at the top of the market. Spieth in and around 16/1 looks too big and after a solid week in Houston I think represents good value. Think the 28/1 on offer for Sergio Garcia is a mad price considering he's in good form and is defending champion. This is such an open tournament it's great for the viewer, probably not for the gamblers. Will have a punt on Rory but there's such a high quality field it's unlikely there'll be many from outside the top 20 breaking into the places. PP offering 8 places kinds reflects this

Of all the yanks I like Spieth. And how can you not like Fred Couples and Mickelson (generous tipper apparently). And Tiger is box office whether you like him or not. Kuchar with that smile is strange. Patrick Reed, now there is someone who grinds my gears. Dusty Johnson....no thanks. Zach Johnson.....the God Squad. Actually Rickie Fowler is ok. Of course once the Ryder Cup comes along they are all bad’uns. |

Really hope there's not a rain delay tonight, Manchester Derby and then 6 hours of golf sounds a splendid Saturday. Don't want to have 3 hours of Monty analysis old action! Was working from home Friday and had the Masters Gold stuff on in the background. For all the talk of Rory's meltdown in 2012(?), Speith's a few years later was much worse IMO. 5 shots clear with 9 to play. He did very well to bounce straight back to win the following year. As an aside, that 2016 Masters was definitely one of the best, Willett taking over after Speith's meltdown (think it was Speith's debut too), and 3 hole in one's on the same hold within about 2 hours. Only thing it lacked was the winner winning it on the 18th - pity the shots of Willett celebrating were in the clubhouse

Spieth was actually defending champion. His quadruple bogey on one hole cost him the championship. He actually birdied two of the next three holes so didn’t implode. He finished T2nd but his putting really saved him on loads of holes. Rory in 2011 was worse IMO. The first 2 days he was magnificent. If he putted better he would have been over 10 shots in the lead. He played 3 holes 6 over par. He just completed lost it on the back 9 and didn’t even finish in the top 10. He went and won the US open 8 weeks later so no long term affects. But he really should have won that tournament comfortably. ------------- |
