3pm on Friday (lasts about an hour) BBC2.
Presented by Gary Lineker! Surprised he was given the job considering he has been a vocal twitter critic of FIFA.

Can you imagine the excitement and all the extra threads in here if we had made it.
Anyway I’ll probably watch it even though after the Denmark game I said I wouldn’t

Was going to say this myself. This is going to really rub it in that we haven't made it. Cry

I'll watch it anyway. Still pondering myself whether to go anyway to Moscow for a few days and was going to wait to see how the draw goes (not booking anything before then in case England are drawn to play there - really keen to avoid their crowd after the last 'meeting' between them and the Russians).

If flights are too awkward or expensive though, I'll reluctantly give it a miss and watch it at home.  Are you all booked already or waiting to see what travel options are available?

Makes absolute sense tbh, he's been a leader in cleaning corruption in Fifa so having him part of the draw ensures the draw is clean.

For the lads mentioning Denmark and be crucifying themselves they got an easy draw - Gary Lineker did a rehearsal today as they've done everyday and they were matched with Brazil, England and Morocco.
Serbia got the slightly easier draw of Peru, Iran and Portgual

I'm all booked with a schedule that shouldn't change or maybe change a little.

I'm not concerned re hooliganism.  Putin will want this to succeed.  He probably was happy re the issues in France.  read into that whatever you wish.  There is a terror threat but of course that could happen anywhere.

Fair point but a team who fails to score against Venezuela doesn’t deserve to be at a World Cup never mind be a favourite for a match imo.

If only it was possible to take Messi and Mascherano but leave the other players home as they were absolutely useless throughout the entire campaign

Nah, a team who gets the required amount of points to qualify deserves to qualify.

True. LOL

Anyway, that setup you have mentioned there has been done away with - Apart from the host nation, FIFA are now using world rankings to seed the teams but there'll still be that rule where there can only be max 2 European teams in any group and one team from any other confederation in any group (eg you won't have Nigeria and Senegal in the same group).

Yeah there's alot of dung in pot 3 and 4.

An English fan should actually want to be drawn with a european team from pot 1 which means they'll draw with the dung remaining in 3 and 4 and should easily qualify in 2nd.

They still a team that over the course of qualification got what was required to qualify (Also note Uruguay also drew 0-0 against Venezuela in qualifying)

The same team that drew with Venezuela beat teams like Uruguay,Columbia,Chile as well as drawing with brazil which is enough to have them as favourites against yet another overrated england side

I don't think this English side is overrated at all. This English side has multiple players at their very peak in the Champions League - Kane, Sterling, Walker and some major breakthroughs since as Winks.
The biggest downside to them is their manager is a bigger dinosaur than ours (perhaps not that bad but definitely on a T-Rex level)

Posted By: ringerbell
Date Posted: 01 Dec 2017 at 3:29pm
If this current English side goes further than the 1/4 finals il be very surprised. Using players like winks to expel the overrated opinion doesn't help you much either he wouldn't get into majority of top sides imo

Past England sides not only had players in them that were playing well in the champions league but had players who were winning the competition. Don't think the current squad is as good as past squads and have a manager that's handing out caps like sweets

Yeah, 1 in late March and 1 in late May (probably the weekend of the Champions' League final (has been the case the past few seasons now).

That draw has sickened me all over again though - I would definitely have fancied our chances of getting out of that group that Denmark have. Dead

Then they'll face a decent team in 1/4 finals and go out

Colombia and Poland would both fancy their chances against England

Will be Germany or Brazil in 1/4s if those win their groups and progress to 1/4s.

There are a few things I would not expect to see in my time here on planet earth - Roberto Martinez winning the f*cking World Cup is one of them. Not a hope.

Jesus the quality there looks a lot worse than previous WC's.. I would have given us a reasonably good chance of getting out of groups A, C, E, F, G or H there.

There actually isn't that many good games to look forward to.

Portugal v Spain
Belgium v England
Germany v Sweden

What else?

Toughest Group.
Since The World Rankings were introduced in 1993, the toughest group in the 7 WC tournaments finals (1994 to 2018) was the following, based on countries FIFA World Rankings.

1994 - Group E - rankings in brackets:

Mexico (17)
Rep Ire (13)
Italy (1)
Norway (5)

Avg ranking: 9

Just had a look at the timings for the matches in Russia.
2pm 3pm 5pm 6pm

6pm seems to be the latest kick off.
Not great for watching matches in the boozer.

My suggestion is that every Euro’s should be held in Western Europe, therefore guaranteeing some 7pm and 8pm matches almost every night.

Every WC should be held in Western Europe, Africa or in the America’s.
To Asia and Oceania, sorry but that’s just the way it is, you can have all the Olympics and Rugby World Cups if you want.
