Sorry if it's been covered elsewhere but what are the likely away playoff venues for each country and how easily accessible are they. Please feel free to edit.
Denmark - Copenhagen is the likely spot?
Croatia - Zagreb and Split
Switzerland - Basel. Any other contenders?
Italy - Rome/ Milan/ Bari/ Turin - anywhere else?
I'll want to get the potential logistics sorted early doors on Tuesday afternoon.

Zurich and Bern as well for the Swiss both have 30k all seater stadiums

Italy the only real one I'd be wary of booking anything before the venue is announced, Would more than likely be the first city you mentioned for the other 3

That's an extra reason why most of us would prefer Denmark - unlike the others, at least we'd know straight away that Copenhagen is nailed on as the host city.

Denmark- Copenhagen Parken - 38000
Switzerland, Basel

Taken from playoffs thread.
Italy have played 3 of their qualifiers in Turin, including a game against Spain, so my guess would be there.

Denmark played their 5 home qualifiers in Copenhagen (38k)
Croatia played 4 in Zagreb (35k) and 1 in Rijeka (8k). They've played 2 recent-ish qualifiers in Split (34k) against Georgia (EURO 2012 qualifier) and Italy (EURO 2016 qualifier)
Italy played two of theirs in Turin (41 + 29k), Palermo (36k), Udine (25k) and Reggio Emilia (23k)
Switzerland also played in a few stadiums; Basel (38k), St Gallen (19k), Lucerne (16k) and Geneva (30k).

I wouldn't necessarily rule out any location for our away game - Countries know that any little advantage can help them so having us in an awkward location (Like the Turkey playoff in Bursa) might be very appealing when looking to schedule these games.

Really?? Have found a few student bars in Copenhagen with very cheap drink and a lad I met in Wales who was there not so long ago told me there were plenty of spots cheaper than Dublin also. Although I've never been in either!

I have been told by Danes that there is a few cheap bars around the Red Light District in Copenhagen were you'd pay about 40kr for a pint that's around €6

Plenty of cheaper spots on here with around €4 pints or maybe cheaper. also saw a place advertising Tuborg for 10KR (Probably a half pint but still way cheaper than here.
Anyway, we haven't even got Denmark, We're talking as if the draw was already made

Not just that, but home support in certain cities is sometimes taken into account eg Ukraine played the home leg of their Euro 2016 play-off against Slovenia in Lviv as they decided they'd get a more passionate atmosphere there than they would have had in Kiev.

Where do Denmark play their big games Copenhagen.
Where do the Swiss play their big games, Basel.
Where do Croatia play their big games Zagreb.
So those three are known. The only unknown is Italy and the rumour is Milan or Palermo depending on opposition.

Fly to Trieste/ Venice and get a bus or hire a car. Ljubljana is a cracking spot just over the border in Slovenia (well 200k).

Now tomorrow most of us will be glued to RTE to see who we get . As for booking flights and hotels etc it's up to you to decide what is best for you .
We have the wait and see and wait until Friday lot . The book anything in the country lot . The you must book something within 2 minutes of the draw lot who will have flights so cheap they will pay for flying with them . My fav is one of our lot who has booked flights already to 3 different cities as he is convinced the day we will be playing away . For us well if we have power we will book to what i think the city will be , hey it will not be a €10.99 fight that's for sure , the only country i will sit on the fence is if we draw Italy .
One last thing could everyone please wait until we have book flights so we could have ours booked and gloat about it later

Swiss trains are mad expensive. For example, Basel to Geneva is about €160 return.
I think I might wait til the venue is known before booking if we draw them, Italy or Croatia, actually.
| I've travelled around the country and didn't find the trains particularly expensive. For example to book a return journey Supersaver ticket for tomorrow between Geneva and Basel can cost as little as 59.70 swiss francs or 51 euro.
|
Yeah but you're relying on people being organised enough to book those in advance of going. Not everyone will know that.
€51 is still pretty expensive, too. Chances are flight prices to Geneva from Dublin are within €51 of those to Basel, at least on some dates.

Countries have until next Friday to nominate their venues.

Dates will be same day as draw, maybe up to 2 hours afterward, when negotiations between FA's and TV companies conclude.
Venues don't have to be confirmed until Friday, at this point, that really only affects Italy, Zagreb is confirmed, we know where the Danes play, Swiss will likely be Basel, and maybe an outside chance of Zurich.

All stadiums roughly the same size
Basel 37,500 Parken 38,000 Maksimir 35,000
Palermo is about 36,000, Juventus about 41,000, although the San Siro is about 80,000 and Udine only 25,000.
If it's anywhere bar Udine, we'll have about 1,800 tickets, which should be about enough.

Venues for the games have to Ben announced by Friday . Denmark nearly a banker for Copenhagen and if not your flying there regardless . Switzerland is small and accessible from main routes so do you take a punt and just book a flight to Italy and then take internal trains for what ever ground we get .... and the same for Croatia ? Or people hanging on for 100% confirmation

as long as Italy stick to the north and we don't get Italy or Croatia away on the Monday we have every base covered for between €60 and €150 return.
Fingers crossed, first choice is Denmark on Sunday night.

Will 1,800 really be enough if we are in Denmark, Switzerland or Italy? We had 3,500 in Vienna and this is a bigger game. I appreciate the short timeframe might have some affect.

I think SD might mean enough to cover regular travelers, i would expect that even with the tight turnaround there will be 3,000 plus applications.

I agree Swanny,San Siro would be deadly,I feel Italy will choose a smaller venue though.
The game is in mid November,so not far from Christmas etc, people had lots of time to plan Cardiff and Vienna, both were cheap and easy to get to,if its Zagreb or Bari for example i reckon we will only bring about 2k,trying to remember how many we took to Zenica, reckon about a thousand, was hard to see in the fog!

Yeah, we were on the charter flight and there was the usual ticket panic so a few people availed of his offer before we landed. It's hard to blame them in the circumstances as they didn't know what the situation was in Bosnia.
