Excellent stuff. Played the full 90 against Barnet in the last round I see and came in for praise. Great to see hughton has kept faith in him and looking forward to seeing how he does against prem opposition

Both Jayson Molumby and Dessie Hutchinson played the full 120mins last night for Brighton. Brighton manager Chris Hughton had this to say after the game:

Quote
"When we went into the game I knew we would get a spirited performance.

"We went in with a different system, two kids in centre-midfield and one that has not even been involved in a first-team squad before.

"It was going to be about getting as many positives out of the game as we could. We knew we'd have to defend well and for large periods of the game we did that.

"We are lucky that we have an extra day given that we play Sunday, some of these players have played themselves into contention."

I didn't manage to watch the game, but I hope this refers to both of the boys.

On the bench today for Arsenal match. Only turned 18 in August.

I make it his first time to make the match day squad for a Premier League game.

Hasnt been picked up on though anywhere else. Usually the 42 etc would have an article on this kind of news.

It would appear that his surname is confusing a lot of people, see the 'eligible players' thread.

Great stuff regarding molumby.  Good to see Maguire and Browne back starting too.

We should actually have a thread for 'squad watch'. I do find myself each Saturday going through the team line ups or the individual player threads looking to see who is playing or not

Delighted for the lad. If the core of the 21s can be regulars at their respective clubs over the next 12-18 months we will be in a great position.

If he can hold down that first team spot from now on he surely must be in with a shout towards the end of this year for the senior side. We struggle to get regulars in the middle even at championship level and he's shown he has a lot of talent.

Unreal to see jay starting now for millwall in league action. Obviously the millwall coaches had saw his two games for our u21s during the international break. He was over the two 21 games our best player IMO. If he can get regular game time in middle of the park for millwall I see absolutley no reason why he should not be involved in the senior squad. Fair enough starting him probably is out of the question but he would be there on merit in the squad. We lack players with his skill set and a natural born leader too.

Great input Clap.

If you read over my post I clearly say that if he gets regular game time at Millwall he has to come into Mick's thinking. The boy oozes class on the ball and anyone who has been keeping tabs on our underage  teams over last few years will know he has been on the horizon now for a while, only for a bad injury approx 18 months ago he would already be a Ireland senior IMO.

Jack Byrne is playing at a far lower level and couldnt hack it at blackburn/oldham and you will have the usual lads saying he should be involved.

I'd rather a 20/21 year old playing at a high level than a 25/26 year old who has been given umpteen chances tbh.

Good point given we have nobody born 93-94 in our current set up let alone anybody being given umpteen chances.

Some good touches from Collins  too

Collins gets motm for his performance today too

He was good tonight. His touch and energy were impressive. Maybe caught ball watching for the goal but centre halves didn't react to the danger at all. Goalscorer was 6 yards out, both centers halves static, marking nobody.

Millwall are awful. Constant hoofball and they don't even do it well. Molumby would impress more in a team that tries to play a bit. I'd actually worry that playing 30 odd games for them this season might beat some of the football out of him. Hope not.

Proves my point about how people are way overrating this kid . I mean I have even seen people here compare him with roy keane . I mean roy keane, one of the best midfielders in the world .

Watch him and make up your own mind.

Greed has won, big finance has won. Whatever small role elite clubs still play in the local communities from which they grew is dwarfed now by their position as global brands.

Perhaps the millwall manager doesn't believe he is as good as people on this board seem to think he is . In fact perhaps Molumby simply isn't good enough to start for Millwall .

I mean seriously a guy who struggles to get game time for Millwall. Is he seriously going to be the heartbeat of our midfield for the next ten years.

LOL

Go see the lad before forming an opinion. Having seen him a couple of times I think he has all the attributes needed to become a very good centre midfielder. Far ahead of anything we have had in a long time. But, yes. Potential doesn’t guarantee success.

Coherent sentence formation is not really their thing, so I wouldn’t worry too much about that.

Given the changing of the guard this may just be a temporary demotion.

People here can be serious idiots

Molumby is a beautiful beautiful player who sails across the midfield with elegance and poise.

He has extremely soft feet to cushion the ball with effortless intensity.

He strokes the ball across the pitch like he was wearing velvet slippers.

And all you can say is that his legs are gone....

I thought the same about james Mccarthy . I remember seeing him against Sweden under trappatoni in I think which was his first cap against Sweden . I thought he was going to be an outstanding midfielder for Ireland and would end up at a bigger club than everton . Mccarthy ended up been a bog standard premier league player.

I don't need to see Molumby play, to know that he is never going to be anything other than a run of the mill championship player . Its obvious to me that the manager he is playing under doesn't fully trust him and there must be a reason for that . Maybe its a lack of application , hunger , desire or an in ability to follow tactical instructions . The managers know a lot more than us fans, they see them day in day out in training . Obviously Moulmby just isn't any good .

Those of you singing his praises here . Take off you green tinted spectacles for a moment and ask yourself why the millwall fans who see play him week in week out don't rate him.

Stopped reading after this.

Has to be a wind up. If by using the logic that he is not being included in the team for one match and not yet being a fan favourite on the fans forums is enough to say he can be written off as a footballer then I think you should take a look at that famous picture where Vardy and Kane were warning the Leicester bench in the championship.

Basing my opinion of molumby on seeing him against Italy and on telly in underage games. He has a great engine, running non stop. He is always looking for the ball and trying to make things happen and seems he has a decent shot. Although, he gave the ball away a bit as well amongst all the positive things.

Think he is on.the right path
