Has this been confirmed? Seems like madness altogether.

Confirmed but seems to only be fore the shortened season at which point they have to make a partnership with Bohs.

Says the same on the SSE Airtricity League website. It doesn't say what happens from next season on

Just an update on the groups for the first full season:
Group 1: Bohs, Derry, Drogs, Dundalk, Pat's, Shels, Monaghan/Cavan Group 2: Athlone, Bray, Cabo, Longford, Mayo, Shams, Sligo, UCD Group 3: Carlow/Kilkenny, City, Cobh, Galway, Kerry, Limerick, Waterford, Wexford
I'm not sure what format in terms of fixtures the groups are following, but so far, having kicked off towards the end of March, most teams have either 7 or 8 matches played, with Pat's, Shams and City leading their respective groups.
Regarding Mayo, it will be interesting to see if they still have ambitions to eventually have a team in the LOI, and whether Carlow/Kilkenny, Kerry and Monaghan/Cavan follow suit.

Well done to the saints u15s, beating Bohs/ SKB u15s 2-1 in dalier tonight, cracking game between two very good sides. If only our international bosses could get teams to play like that eh?
