Bit of a surprise to see cobh beating rovers. With all the talk about youth development at tallaght I thought rovers would win that one. Also nice to see longford town start with a win.

Greed has won, big finance has won. Whatever small role elite clubs still play in the local communities from which they grew is dwarfed now by their position as global brands.

I'm delighted for the squad and Manager Maciej Tarnogrodzki, after winning the League. Clap
It's the same effort to qualify for UEFA competition as not.

A lot of combinations for it to happen, a follower can learn a lot about small underage regional divisions in different countries.  There's a regional division in Spain with underage teams involving Morocco, Balearic Island and Andalusian clubs.

Do you mean teams from Ceuta and Melilla or from Morocco itself?

I meant Ceuta and Melilla/Mlilt, my own politics and geography peeked through.
División de Honor Juvenil Group 4 is the Andalusia group, mostly Seville but no Balearic islands clubs in Group 4 I was mistaken.

Yes there will be cash compensation, what percentage of expenditure I'm not sure.  As you may know the UEFA Youth League was the underage mirror competition for the senior Champions League.  But there was a glaring omission in that underage domestic champions were not recognised with a competition while the academies of successful senior clubs advertised their prestige in UEFA competition.

So UEFA has designed a competition where the Domestic Champions cull each other in two knock out rounds until eight meet the runners up from the groups in a one off match (home venue is UEFA group runner up) and those 8 survivors play the winners of the Youth League group in a one off match (home venue winners of UEFA Youth League group).

#Europe

After edit:
I was wrong about the managed home venue.  The domestic Champion is at home in third round and the following round the one-off venue is a managed split between Youth League group winners and the winners of the previous round.

The Northern and Southern Elite groups are completed and going on previous years the quarter final Play-Offs could be mapped (Winner v opposing 4th Place, Runner-up v opposing 3rd Place, 1 match with extra-time and penos if needed).  Certainly fixtures can take place very quickly after the completion of the groups, like next weekend.
Bohemian v Limerick,
Cobh Ramblers v St. Patricks Athletic
Sligo Rovers v Cork City
UCD AFC v Drogheda Utd.

Semi-Final is an open draw.

St Patrick's Athletic v UCD AFC (Holders)

Pats beat Southern table-toppers Cobh Ramblers away in the quarters, while The Students return to domestic action and should have Mahdy, Power, Coffey available again. Captain Andy O'Reilly limped off in first half last week and was still limping after the FT whistle.

It'll be a very competitive game with plenty of noise and colour from the stands.

Finished 7-4 to St Pats. Even-steven until an UCD Neil Farrugia og and a slip put Pats 2-0 up with a Callum Keane goal. UCD were without talisman Captain Andy O'Reilly, Winger Kevin Coffey picked up an injury in opening minutes, subbed on 30 for Simon Power. Farrugia got one back before HT 2-1.
When UCD had the ball they were a threat, but allowed Pats' Cian Hughes to go 3-1. Later Simon Power raced half the length of the pitch, St Pats Sean Quinn dragged him back, yellow. Quinn was rightly substituted immediately after the free kick. Students lost their way and two goals in two minutes (Hughes was one scorer) St Pats 5-1 UCD 60'.
But UCD are Champions and they showed their Champion quality, Sean McDonald burst into the box 5-2 65'.
A prolonged period of possesion produced a persisent McDonald on the penalty spot who shot once, saved, but he was not going to be denied and scored 5-3 75

More UCD total possession, a cross from the right and Power hooks his shot home. 5-4 86'.

Pats eventually ventured into UCD half and after some corner play crossed to the back post to score. 6-4 88'

UCD raised the faces against the dropping sun and culminated in a corner with keeper Conor Kearns going up for it. But after as the move broke down, Kearns stayed forward until Pats had full possesion on the halfway line and a few paces more the Pats sub scored from the touchline inside the UCD half. 7-4 92'.

A second kick in the teeth in 11 days, but this was a little more self-inflicted. #COYBIB

Bohs won the u19's final against Saints last night. Some decent players on show but the actual quality of the game wasn't great. It was full blooded and tightly contested but the pitch was in poor shape and there seemed to be a nasty bobble out there.

Anyway well done to Bohs and unlucky to the young Saints.

1/4 Final UCD 5:2 Dundalk
UCD Goals: Billy Grifgin, Sean Quinn, Sean McDonald(2) and Luke Hannigan.
UCD went into a three nil lead early on then another from Sean McDonald before the break to lead 4-0.  Dundalk came back with two goals coming from aet-pieces and they could have had more.  But The Students weathered the attacks and a three man break from the half-way line with no defenders allowed Luke Hannigan to brwak and elegantly steer the ball beyond the flat-footed keeper. #COYBIB

Thanks for your reply.  Students are also considered a low-income community like working-class communities.  Students are derided because of the way they look, how they are dressed and what they eat.  As you self-identify with a low-income community there is an opportunity to identify with another low-income community.
Mocking entire communities but still requesting info/services/resources from those same communities. This is self-entitled class...... these are some of the conversations I have had on the Jodi Stand terraces.  #Freire #Tressell

Dr Tony O'Neill U19s League Semi-Final Bohemian FC 2:2 UCD AFC, AET (2-2 90'), 5-3 penos

Bohs had the better of the first half with Stephen Nolan and Ali Reghba in the middle with Promise Omochere and Ryan Grayden on the wings.  At 0-0 UCD played the ball through the field and Jack Ryan held off a defender, his shot was saved by the advancing keeper who kept hos legs closed.  Soon after a few short passes in front of the UCD defence gave Nolan some space to slide-rule a pass into the bottom corner of the Tramway/Shopping Centre End.  UCD keeper Carl Williams and Luka Lovic were the busiest Students.
A minute after the restart Ali Reghba scored a second for Bohs, I didn't see the goal as I was looking at my phone #milleniums. Reghba started his celebrations inside the UCD penalty area.

At 2-0 down The Students turned to face the Petty-bourgeoisie/Grocer-class End and it was the work-horses of the team like Luka Lovic, Luke Boore (captain if we allowed hierarchies) and right-back Evan Farrell.  Farrell barrelled down the right wing and his back-heeled pass inside to receive the return inside the penalty box, he paused forvthe jeeper to commit and from a difficult angle hammered the ball into the left hand corner.
UCD had their tails up and had a few more chances.  But Bohs got back into the game and as time slipped by in the 84' a corner was sent over for sub Luke Hannigan to shoot home for parity.  With Equality achieved The Students could have gone on to take what they were entitled to in the remaining minutes but Bohs with stood the pressure.
Extratime brought chances for both sides, Bohs hit the post and with penalties.  UCD hit the crossbar on number three.  Bohs scored five times and march on to the Final.  The Students will retreat, lick our wounds and learn from our mistakes.
