A lot of debate has been had on the number of Irish going. The Irish Times say interest is 1/3 higher from Poland 4 years ago. Surely we'll have in the region of 40,000 inside the ground in Paris and the somewhat smaller in the other two games. Anyone care to guess the numbers we'll have?
From a personal point of view, there's 16 people quite close to me who are going this time that didn't go to Poland. I'd imagine I'm not the only one knowing people going who didn't go four years ago

France is so easy to get to that people will go if tickets are available.
I would say 40k at the first game is a decent shout. Saint-Denis (80,000 seats)Lille (50,000 seats) Bordeaux (Matmut Atlantique – 42,000 seats)

Have had a good amount of people who know i travel away to games approach me asking if it is possible to get them tickets, most of whom have never been away to a game and very rarely been to a home match, some of who must have forgotten how they sneered at me after Poland, i have not forgotten . But generally get the impression a lot more people are more interested this time around.

If we get 35,000 in for the Sweden game I'd be surprised was looking for 1 extra ticket for it and no joy anywhere. In 2004 we were given a huge allocation because the French public weren't interested in going to the game .

Sweden always bring big numbers, Belgium are on the doorstep and have their best team ever, Italians don't give a f**k till the knock outs.
So yeah Claret your prediction sounds more likely than the half the stadium in Paris full of Irish scenario

Sweden will have a lot in that stadium. We'll do well to get 35k into stade de france. Belgium will bring a lot too and we all know how hard tickets have been to come by in that game. Italy game is one i could see being 70% Irish. They won't care about the game and probably the good people of Lille won't either

Same boat here . Think my crew are getting married , babies and mortgaged out . | On the other hand I'm 22 and I didn't know anybody else that went to Poland last time around, bar the lads I went with of course. In my small college course there is anywhere between 40 and 50 people. Including me there is 14 going from that course. Added to this I know of at least another 15 or 20 going and some of these are in groups of 10+

We had 40K in Paris in 2004. OK it was a weekend no ticket issues and the Celtic Tiger was roaring.
I believe we will have 40-50K at the Sweden game. Most of the tickets are cat 1s and 145 euros is a lot for a neutral to pay. So I expect in the end there won't be ticket issues for Sweden.
There will be a lot less at Belgium and Italy somewhere in between.

Yeah I knew far more in Poland. France is a lot more expensive, and probably not going to be as much fun as Poland (not that it won't be fun in its own right).

Ahhh but Bear 11 and Aido M are taking 3 seats between the two of them so that cancels your one .

Not quite : it's 540 miles from Bordeaux to the Belgian border and an eight hour drive. Anyone seeking to do it in one day from Belgium would have to leave at 5am or so (3 o'clock kick off).

Most people seem to think we'll have at least 7-8,000 in Nice, maybe 11-12,000 in Lyon (big new stadium), something in-between for Parc des Princes in Paris.
I'll be watching the PdP game and our knockout ties at home, expensive trip ;)

Surprised at that estimation FU.I thought N.I. would bring at least 20k as there'll be ticketless fans there too.
Edit: Just read the thread title

Naughty mucker ;)
Maybe I've underestimated a bit, but factor in the opening weekend game being in the smallest ground etc.
20k staying for the whole group stage, can't see that.

Bordeaux is just going to be a nightmare for ticketless fans. The only weekend game, the biggest fixture, the biggest traveling support from an openent and the smallest stadium.

I was lucky to get tickets but I had thought about the scenario if I hadn't. I'd have brought €300 to buy one over there off a tout but I'd say I could get one for closer to €200. If you're in Paris scour the Irish fans for a spare and likewise in bordeaux. Paying a tout should be the last resort.
