2 best players in the league have been Mahrez and Kante imo. With the likes of Alderweireld, Kane, Payet, Vardy being exceptional also. Mahrez for me.

Kante for me. Payet has been superb, Mahrez, Dele Ali, De Gea stands out from a United stand point for me as keeper of the season.

Done all the dogs work this year, Barcelona Real Madrid will be paying attention to him.

Payet surely worth an option too. Not saying he's better than Mahrez, but he's top 3 for me.

Kante by a mile, then Mahrez by a mile from everyone else.

Mahrez ! 16 goals and 11 assists ! Hard to argue against that

Team of the season will be interesting this year.

Butland

Bellerin
Huth
Alderweireld
Cresswell

Payet
Kante
Ozil
Mahrez

Vardy
Kane

Possibly Dele Alli ahead of Ozil if you want to have a more realistic and balanced midfield (not that ever really matters on team of the season)

The fact you dont have de Gea in your team speaks volumes !!!

He's been excellent De Gea, but there have been several mistakes from him, plus he didn't play until September.
Butlands been consistently good all season so just got the nod

Not sure about that - Butland has looked a lot more shaky in recent weeks. He let in an absolute piddler from Pelle the other week for example. De Gea has been the best keeper overall for me.

Other than that however I agree with your team. I'd keep Ozil ahead of Alli as well - just about.

The keeper spot is between De Gea and Schmeichel I would say. De Gea will get it as he's won games for United on his own this season with some absolutely ridiculous performances.

Christian Fuchs at left back is another candidate. Although I must say I am a big fan of Cresswell. Very good player.

Smalling at centre back another possibility. Alderweirweld a cert. As is Bellerin at right back. Very poor season for right backs this season for some reason.

Midfield as above. Possible case to include Danny Drinkwater but hard to say who instead.

Vardy and Kane picks itself up top too.

Mahrez will probably win it but Kante has been outstanding as well and I would like to see win it.

De Gea has been by far the best keeper in EPL this season,I cant see why anyone would think different.he is the only reason United's season didnt completely fall apart. He may not have played a few games at the start of the season but has still played 26 EPL games.

I would say Dele Ali is a cert for young player of the year.

Kane & Lukaku are both 22 so still qualify for the YPOY award

Riyad Mahrez
He’s scored 29.6% of Leicester’s league goals this season, and assisted a further 20.4%. You can do the maths: Mahrez has directly contributed to exactly half of the league leaders’ goals.

Young player will go to H Kane.

Schmeichel tries to do everything he can to avoid catching the ball, punches and flaps when he should catch and take the pressure away from the defence. His kicking is also suspect, a very long kick, but goes straight out of play/to the opposition keeper several times a match.

In hindsight, De Gea does deserve the keper spot. I stand corrected.
Apologies, especially to Gary McKay

Despite being top of the league I don't think Schmeichel has been THAT good to be honest. Good but nothing special.

Agree on Schmeichel - not even sure he'd be in my top 5 to be honest. Hugely suspect on crosses.

looking at the PP odds, deli alli is 3/10 for the young player of the year with kane 4/1. if kane keeps banging them in and spurs win the league, surely he'd get the double award?

Kante absolutely should be a contender, and yet you won't find odds on him to win it with most bookies, which shows just how these awards usually go.It will be one of Mahrez (who I would choose),Kane and Payet IMO

Why would it mAke a difference that he's english? It's voted by the players themselves.

Thought we were talking about the FWPOTY.

I will stand corrected if he doesnt win the regular award. But until then, I stand by it.

Butland wont win the 'keeper award. De Gea and Schmiechel are both ahead of him and possibly a n other.

Kante / Mahrez and Vardy all have incredible and totally unpredicted seasons, Kane less so, as he also did the business last year.  Kante for me, but as goals and assists are so important, Kane will collect it. Not specifically 'cos he's English, but because he has stated scoring for England this season too, it wont hinder his prospects.

For sheer inidividual brilliance, Dimitri Payet.
