Awful stuff. It's only going to escalate more. France is months away from hosting the Euros and that's essentially putting a target on foreign citizens/diplomats.
Can see it being a massive security issue.

RIP. My God tonight this sounds grizzly.

You can bleat on that more people are killed in road accidents than in terrorist attacks like this in Europe but how many are foiled and bungled?

There are people living in Europe who want to obliterate Europe end of. Going to take some managing.

If your average French person is fair game for these lunatics to avenge their "brothers" deaths in Syria we are in a god awful place. Odds on the attackers being born and bred within 15 miles of the attacks.

I appreciate the attackers have not been revealed yet but i will eat my hungover pants in the centre circle on monday night if its not you know who

According to the Associated Press, a police official said 11 people were killed in a Paris restaurant in the 10th arrondissement, and about 35 killed in the Bataclan theatre, where a hostage-taking is under way. Police said 100 hostages were being held.

I make that 46 dead and and the ability for 100 more. Horrible situation.

Holy fcuk Unhappy

French TV is reporting that 100 hostages have been taken at the Bataclan concert venue in the 11th arrondissement.

BFMTV reported that shooting at the Bataclan began an hour into the concert of a California rock group called Eagles of Death Metal.

All other reports indicate there could be around 60 people at the venue

I'm with Sid Waddell on the disaster jokes.

I find the irony in a band called Eagles of Death Metal having violence visited upon them. It's another reminder to me that the language we use is important.

I'm asking, will there be claims of "This night we are all Shoppers" after the attack on the shopping centre.

I remember the truncated " libertié [Blue] et équalitié [White]" calls back in January but not fraternité [Red]. I don't know why it wasn't expressed  but it doesn't appear to fit gender-equality language so it wasn't used.
With Blue and White I don't know what national flag they were citing it wasn't the tricolour.

The present attack may be about the immediate current affairs but it's indiscriminate and that's murder.

Can`t really see Euro 2016 to be a festival of joy and sportsmanship. They will definitely focus on air transport and providing maximym security for participating teams but will they do everything to protect ordinary fans gathering in tousands on the squares for example? Don`t think so. No country has resources to provide such level of protection. Even if security services/army/police from other country will help there is no way they leave the coutry without protection for a month so that help will be limited (plus language barrier). Not a good perspective :/

madness either way. there are quite a lot of them in the camp so find it unlikely that a few right wing nutters have torched the place to the ground.

If it is a party they should be transported en mass back to where they came from.

Could well be a twitter hoax too to be fair. Lets see.

Getting to September 11th level of eeriness now.

In fairness a lot of the mods were at the match or out watching the match. Hopefully when they do view the posts they will wake up about a certain poster

This isn't half as bad as some of the discussions on other sites! Brain dead stuff like ship the Muslims back to where they came from and nuke Syria!

No point in sugar coating it, name them.

Both myself and DM had friends or family in the city tonight and lads like Sid and UCD are making jokes about it. UCD in particular alluded to the fact that because of the bands name 'Eagles of Death Metal' that they pretty much brought it upon themselves. Over 100 people dead at the gig with reports of people being executed 1 by 1 and also grenades being thrown at people. It's f**king sick, but to these lads it's a laugh.

While I'm not defending the lads' comments,UCD pointed out something he found ironic,it's not like he welcomed their gig being attacked

Jeremy Clarkson is currently being sued for attacking someone and racially abusing them because they were Irish. Not an eyelid is batted about the racist part.

Constant vicious racist remarks made about Irish people in mainstream Australian media - newspapers and TV - by people in positions that should know better. Life goes on.

Fox News America. Several instances of bigotry against the Irish.

Antagonism and mockery of the Irish hasn't went away. We just seem to be the only people it's acceptable to do this to - because we are white it is not racism and makes it okay.
