LOL  Interestingly enough, Varney's first comic role, long before "On the buses", was starring alongside the one and only Benny Hill in a show called "Gaytime". Seems apt.
Though I doubt even the real Reg Varney spent nine hours on a bus every day and missed the match LOL

I'm sure pat doesn't use the forum and nobody is gonna lose much sleep over it, raising his nickname on a thread containing an article criticising him is hardly a shocker. Lads indulging in petty wumming on a score prediction thread then giving out when they get some back....

It's great to see that someone is paying so much attention to these threads and posts though, good for you

So much anger. Bizarre.

Anyhow.................

Derry-Cork is going up against the end of United-Liverpool and Spurs-Arsenal. Is there a local reason for the 3.15 kick off? How come they dont just have the kick off at 5.25 again like last week?

Now there you are "Derry-Cork". Wasn't that SO much easier to say than being deliberately provocative to other posters, Especially to people who may have lost family and good friends to those same "Londoners".
Would love to stick the likes of you up there for a few weeks in the thick of it. You'd of ran with your tail between your legs back to D4.

Funny enough the one place you wouldn't want to be when it kicks off up here is on a bus with your Ghostbusters schoolbag eating your dairylea and prawn sandwiches as its always the buses that get sparked first

Strange kick off time for us on Sunday as derry play the dubs at 2pm next door in Celtic park (unbelievably we do play gaa up here). Must have been rte decision. For any of the cork lads - you should try and get up a bit early as traffic and parking will be a nightmare. I'd recommend that you get yourselves to the bluebell bar which is a 2 minute walk to the ground and £1.50 a bottle of beer. Hoping for a big crowd and a better game than last week

There will be a bit of an overlap but not a lot, football is king in the city and gaa is king in the rural areas. I don't think it will make much of a dent on our attendance but it could be a pain in the arse traffic/parking wise, particularly given that it's the dubs

About 30/40 of us that would go to both regularly.  Handlebars for us, most are going to sack the GAA as no point paying for a ticket and then having to leave early.

RTÉ announced it without realising that there was a GAA game on.  Yes, I know.

Great result for Bray. Very close to the start of the season they strengthened considerably. Said before the start of the league that I think they'll have just enough to avoid relegation and that Sligo will struggle after losing Elding, Ventre and Lynch. Very early days, but haven't changed me mind. UCD must be sick, how many times will they be 2-1 up away to Pats??
Nice turnaround by Dudnalk. They are starting to really groove now after that blip start. Will be thereabouts by season end, no question.
Facile win for Rovers tonight Clap We are coming LOL

Deserved win but you were lucky to score so late on a ball lost in midfield.  Thought we were going to hang on.

Pats uncharacteristically sloppy in possession all night. Not a great game and a draw would not have flattered UCD. Both teams scored a cracker of a free kick apiece from a near identical position on the pitch. Although Clarke prob should have saved their effort. He made up for it with a deadly double save about 60 minutes in.

Too many lads having offdays for the Champs. Fahey, other than 2/3 excellent passes, wasnt great before he went off injured. Hopefully it's only a knock and he is back soon. Lee Lynch was anonymous in the 1st half and got hooked at h/t.
I know Fagan got the winner and he took it well but I really don't think he makes it stick up front. He's not enough of a physical presence and I would like to see Quigley get a start soon.

Pats were unconvincing and were lucky to get the three points really but hopefully it's just a blip.

Poor result for Bohs tonight...Strange statement?
No.. 2 up after 25 mins could /should have been 4,Left full went off injured for 10 mins to be patched up,Drogs scored.
HT, Bohs came out took a bit of pressure then Had most of the 2nd half chances... and missed them
Drogs stuck to the task and scored in 89th min
So one sided 1st half Gypos should have been out of site, but overall a good performance and a massive improvement on last season.
On the bright dide if Dave Scully was still there we still would,nt have 1 goal let alone 5 at this stage
Great crowd
Mon the Gypos ,and bring on the scum

Thought meenan did well to win the ball in the middle and set up the break, Hoban should have put it away but we got lucky with the rebound

f**king great feeling getting a last min goal against bohs , they have been doing it to us for years ! Played poorly and still got a result away from home so happy enough .small squad is gonna hurt us , Gav Brennan was badly missed as was our keeper . Ryan is terrible in nets ..

Drogs second was always coming, bohs just didnt take their chances, tried to settle for the 2-1 and got punished.
Shocking defending for the corner that Drogs scored from.

whats the story with the SEI Tom? The lad beside me said they were blamed for breaking seats and aren't allowed sit in their usual spot. Is that what happened? You would miss the noise and atmosphere without them. Everything about last night was very flat. The performance from the team and the crowd.

Clarke was very poor for the free kick, and got lucky for the double save that UCD were tackling their own players! but "hardy bucks" as someone called him finished well for the free kick. Oman was all over the place for the first and shouldn't have have away the free for the second.
Improvements needed, nobody showing for throws, kick outs or free kicks, very frustrating to watch

Just back.  Disappointed we let the Champions back into the game.  Don't like UCD losing to teams that aren't playing well.  Both teams exchanged close-calls from free (Conan Byrne and Chris 'Chrissie' Mulhall).  After letting square-headed Conan Byrne run onto and score from a lob from the back, College continued with the quick tempo and with Robbie Benson, Ayman bin Mohammed and Cillian Morrison taking the ball off the Pats midfielders toes and running back at the defenders.  Morrison collected the ball in Pats half, ran 30 yards at the Pats goal, slipped the ball to Mulhall who angled in home.
A few minutes later Angry Ken Oman, whose ego is the size of the country he's named after, took out UCD defender Mark Langtry on the edge of the Pat's box.  Mulhall looped it over wall and teased Clarke as it lay buried into his bottom rig hand corner.  UCD finished the half better.

UCD didn't start the second with the same tempo, but Pats played the same way, Fahey and Forrester very deep, taking the ball from their own defenders and then playing in front of UCD before losing it.  Last year Pats trashed UCD three maybe four times by raiding down the wings, they chose not to do it this time.  Fahey went off with dead leg(?) and with our own Mark Langtry getting treatment, UCD player tackled from behind to give away a free kick and Byrne scored with aplomb.

UCD players raised their game after that, which was nice and unexpected to get two big spells in the game.  That's where Pats cleared a free and a low ball was fired back in Clarke saved low and with two UCD players queuing up saved again with the third shot over the bar.  Again UCD were finishing the half stronger when UCD remembered about the wings and in 92 mins with the ball switched from either wing Chris Fagan scored.

Usual for UCD to let teams off the hook, UCD FANS brought more colour and made more noise than Pats Fans for most of the game.  UCD players should be very proud the way they took the game to the Champions not once but twice.  Scored two.

Absolutely gutted after last night 2 horrendous pieces of denfending by lopes and pender the difference we missed at least anoth 4 sitters on top of the goals, still cant beleive we didnt win it, going forward we are playing some lovely stuff and were solid at the ack bar individual mistakes.
Great to see Gary O Neill back scoring goals tooClap

We were wank in the first half and Corcoran missed a great chance to nab a hat trick. In saying that we were alot better in the second half and over all I think a draw was a fair result. Great to see us respond after going two done. Gary O' Neill

Athlone will be relegated. Could have been 6 or 7. Good to see both of our forwards score too.

Thought we were very flat last night. Seemed to play a bit more freely after fahey went off. Ger o'brien was a loss in the second half. McCormack isn't a full back. Hopefully ger isn't too serious and will be back next week. Lynch was anonymous in the first half and rightly subbed off at half time.
UCD were robbed of a point. Don't think they did enough for the win but a draw would've been fair.
Was never a fan of Oman and he looked to be a yard of the pace. Was at fault for the first goal and conceded the free for the second. Thought clarkie should've saved it though.

Conor played right full for us when needed and he looked nervy in my opinion, like he could be swamped cos of his size . Will give 100% in effort every game . Oman"s legs gone ? looked that way to me last season . Could"nt believe the score"s from Inchicore as they were happening last night .

Pats were lethargic from start to finish last night. We had no urgency about us at all and played far too much if the game in our own half. We are only a couple if injuries in key positions away from being a seriously weaker side. Concerned about fagans inability to hold the ball up in the lone striker role and Oman has a serious lack of pace. Would like to see how Sean hoare would get on in that role. We finished the game without obrien, Kenna, Russell, bisto and Brennan from last seasons team, so it's quite unsettled.

The question was asked about the sei, there is a dispute with the club over paying for some broken sears and they have taken a stance that they won't do their thing until the club stumps up. All a but stupid

The two injuries restricted Pats, thought Quigley for Fagan would've been the obvious one if they hadn't had to replace O'Brien and then Fahey. An encouraging performance from UCD - a lot of fight out there and some nice moves. As for the referee ordering an injured player off the pitch (Langtry) without letting the physio on or stopping the game - that was ridiculous and purely to appease the crowd. Could you imagine him doing the same to Pats after they made it 3-2?

Unlucky not to get a point but play like that against the teams in the bottom half of the table and should be ok this season. Benson in centre midfield was a positive to take away from that and hopefully he can build on that.

Disappointed we dropped 2 points last night but in fairness I could see the equalizer coming for Drogheda. Entertaining match and a decent enough crowd.

It's only hitting 10am and I'm wound up already - my Facebook is full of lads going on about the United v Liverpool game today. Some of these lads have never been to old Trafford or anfield yet this fixture is life or death for them. Many of them will have to actually walk past the brandywell today to get to the pub .

Rte have done us no favours today up against the gaa next door and one of the biggest fixtures in the EPL and what do we get from them? F all
