The search for the next Peterborough United manager is hotting up, as people once thought of as favourites are ruled out, and so are former World Cup winners.
In an interview with BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony revealed that he has been inundated with applications for the vacant seat in the ABAX dugout.
He revealed applications have been made by ex-England players, ex-Premier League players, and the most surprising name of all, the agent of Gennaro Gattuso. So far, the man nicknamed “Rino”(Rhino) has failed to achieve a win percentage of above 40% at the three clubs he has managed in Switzerland, Italy and Greece.
But MacAnthony revealed that he would like a British manager to take over the reigns from the recently departed Darren Ferguson. The two favourites with Sky Bet have both been ruled out today. Second favourite, Rotherham manager Steve Evans who has family in the area, and is thought to be a big supporter of the Posh, has been ruled out of the running, in the short term anyway, after Millers chairman Tony Stewart said the Scott would “110% not be leaving”.
The man who has been favourite, Grant McCann, has also been ruled out by the Peterborough Chairman himself in the interview with BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.
