Who were the thickos in the Rovers hierarchy who gave Kenny a 3 year contract?! The man is as uninspiring as the team has been this season. Rovers should`ve looked outside the country for a manager, like the way Sligo did with Barraclough and Paul Cook before him. Bring back Relegation Roddy? Thanks but no thanks.

Appointing a Manager is usually always a gamble, sometimes it works (Mick O'Neill), sometimes it doesn't (Kenny).  Board got it wrong, not the end of the world, hopefully the next Gaffer will restore a bit of pride for the season, cos there's no pride currently palpable and that should be your starting point.

I agree FW, it is a gamble, but a gamble to a point. To give a 3 year contract to a manager when youre a club who has probably the best barganing power in the country is madness.

I cant talk for how Shams picked Kenny but with Baraclough the club went to unbelivable lengths to get the person that could do a job and thus lessen the gamble.

Posted By: roverstillidie
Date Posted: 03 Jul 2012 at 9:26pm
But that said, the club paid £20,000 to get him, so a one year contract wasn't really an option either.

The club got it wrong, being a relative success at Derry, Bohs and Dunfermiline are one thing, Rovers is a whole different size of job. It was too big for him and he has clearly buckled under the pressure. Unfortunately the board went for a safe pair of LoI hands and didn't get it.

Forget anything you read online or in the paper, it's all speculation. No-one outside of the board knows what the decision has been, if any.

Who gave you stick over Barraclough? He is exactly the type of chap we should have gone for.

You get so upset LOL It must be the toughest time you've had in your 3 years as a Rovers fan Cry

Not much difference between them anyway. Kenny has won 1 league and 1 cup. Mathews has one 2 cups, 1 setanta cup. Wouldnt like either to be at Shels next season. Good enough for the Tallaght Shamrocks thoughThumbs Up

I made the fatal assumption of assuming you were posting something seriously. Won't make that mistake again.

Kenny is a manager off Derry, Bohs, Cork, Bray, UCD level. Not quite weak enough for Shels standard - yet.

Mick O'Neill wasn't up for it and now you are left with an absolute toilet of a manager LOL

Have to hand it to him though, it was gonna take something serious to stop the subsequent rovers domination after last seasons Europe cash wind fall. He has single handily f**ked everything up, all the hard work, ruined.

agree with that. Every manager needs at least two years to build their team. This is all the drunken Nordie's fault,

One of my mates is well connected in the betting circle and has a few good contacts , he heard Paul Doolin will be Rovers next manager.

Don't shoot the messenger now , i found it strange seeing as Doolin has just signed a new deal with the u19s but with Rovers struggling and given Doolins LOI experience you wouldn't know!

I'm not an avid LOI supporter or anything but i try and stay as upto date as i can , but yeah your spot on North is a huge loss for Sligo! I'd love to see Sligo win the league though , i think going out in Europe will be a blessing for them.

The Doolin story could have legs , seeing as he's based in Ireland and the u19s don't play bucket loads of fixtures he may be able to juggle both jobs. "if he were to get the job of course"

If there's any truth in it , a part time role could be done imo.

In fairness RTID it's not Real Madrid or Man United we're talking about here? Given that managers have juggled biggers club sides and international sides together for the donkeys years , so i don't think combining Ireland 19s and a club the size of Shamrock Rovers would be too big in all honesty.

Anyway i'm just saying what i heard , it may or may not be true but a few more defeats and Kenny could be gone!

We all heard it, but the descision was taken to not go down that road. So don't waste your money.

And I would wager one of the factors in that descision had to do with any replacement spending 40 hours a week at the club. I don't know how taxing the U19's gig is, but you can't have full time players and a part time manager.

We're far too many points adrift at this stage unless Sligo do what we nearly did 2 years ago, but the chances are we're gonna drop more stupid points and all between now and the end of the season.  I still think he shoulda been bombed out, but it's hardly gonna happen now at this stage.
