The Hogson Bay hotel in Athlone is a lovely spot. It's a bit family orientated but it's a good spot with loads to do.

I know it's a bit far, but Aghadoe Heights in Killarney is a smashing place, we availed of Supervalu Points for our anniversary last August and got it at half price but it's a lovely hotel.

Oh my God I just had a look I want to go there. They are also doing a mid week deal 170 each for 2 night and you get a room upgrade too. Whats the story with these Supervalue points ? Are they similar to the Superquinn points thingy ?

Me and herself stayed there about a year or so ago. We got that room with the jacuzzi bath by the window , my advice is just get the one with the jacuzzi in the bathroom cos u cant c the lakes when ur in it . The lake view rooms are unreal and the deer come out from the woods behind onto the lawn in the evening. Its pure class

Myself and the gf stayed in the harbour hotel in Galway before. It's nice, the food is savage and I think it's about a 10 minute walk from Eyre Square. They do good deals as well sometimes, a hell of a lot cheaper than the G hotel.
Pretty much anywhere in Kilkenny is good as well and it's a great town for the craic. Or if you want to come to a country town that's like a cross between the Hardy Bucks and Father Ted at the weekends then come to Durrow! We've 2 grand hotels and there's no closing time in the pubs!

If your looking for a weekday break Sasa then you could do no wrong if you head to Carrickfergus in 12 days time - a wednesday and stay in the Premier Inn which overlooks Belfast Lough for a few nights, best off all there will be plenty to see and do(running) while you are there I even hear they are holding a massive "festival" in that town around that time - I think its to be the main "festival" in the north those few days

In the words of McEnroe - You can not be serious man? The rooms are woeful, the service crap and the food rank - used to do a job that done interviews for a big company and would be round most off the hotels in Belfast and although the rooms in the Hilton are probably the biggest I wouldnt stay there, the europa has crap rooms but brilliant food, Jurys wouldnt go near, the Stormont is pretty good but too far out, havent been in Days hotel right in the centre but it looks pretty good

Stayed in it last year when I went to see Christy Moore, the man himself was shacked up there too, we had breakfast together
Anyway, got a top quality room for €90, had a top drawer evening dinner in the restaurant, which is real nice and couldn't fault the hotel one bit

Was in Cork with work during the week and as usual they put us up in the Radisson in Little Island. As residents no issue getting a pint until they stopped serving which was 01:30 on the Tuesday but 11:00 on the Wednesday for some reason.
They’re obviously trying to grab back a bit of what they lost though, Guinness on Tuesday night was €5.20 and on Wednesday was €5.40.
Food prices had shot up since pre Covid too, €14.95 up to €18.95 for Fish and Chips €12.95 to €15.95 for the Burger and Chips. No buffet breakfast anymore either, just a few menu options and it was scabby enough.

if you can detour and do 2 nights in Tulsk. Wont be enough time to take everything in there but still well worth the visit. The restaurant there is top notch too.
