Good stuff!

Eoin played his underage soccer with us before he went to Shels.
He had been over to England for many trials in his teens. Great to see Irish players proving the LOI standards here are healthy.

If he can reach double figures by the end of the season he'll be doing really well , one down already here's hoping he score's many more (except against Celtic)!!

Eoin is a confidence player
Remember him telling me how O'Neill wouldn't even look at him walking past him in the corridor. Not a great man manager was O'Neill

Amazing what a bit of confidence can do for a player

Doyle and J O'Shea played in final. It was only the JPT Paul Cook wont loose any sleep over the defeat. But he has to get them out of League 2 this season. Didn't expect to see Rochdale out in front at one stage in looked like Chesterfield would win it easily.

Former Sligo boss is in charge at C/Field. Can anyone really see him breaking in to the Senior International team? However he has scored goals where ever he been. Paddy Madden and Daryl Murphy also scored last night.

Fair play to him but he needs to be playing in the Championship at least. Madden banged them in for Yeovil in League 1 then went missing when they got promoted.

The leap between league one and the championship can be as big for a player  as championship to EPL. Simon Cox was top scorer when at Swindon.

Madden didn't get much of a chance in fairness, fell out with the manager and was promptly shipped off.
If he gets 25-30 goals this year I don't we're in a position to completely ignore that, even if it is L1. Certainly I'd have no problem giving him a shot in the squad if he reaches those kind of figures.

Yep, but he only played for us in the small sided levels, up to U-11.

Met Eoin over the summer and he told me his hope for the season was to keep his place and bag 20+ goals.
He's on the way.Thumbs Up

He has scored 11 goals in 8 games for Chesterfield in League one this season and has scored back to back hatricks already, the first time this feat has been achieved at the club.  I think he ought to be considered in the near future. I know he plays in League one but his scoring record this season has been magnificent.

Thoughts?

Posted By: Clonbhoy
Date Posted: 30 Sep 2014 at 4:25pm
People get very excited. He is on a good run of form and playing with confidence but cool the jets. He has had a nomadic career with his best spells under Cook at Sligo and now Chesterfield. If we were to have a B squad he would be worth a run but he would need to keep this form up for a while to get into the national team. Form is temporary etc.

Wouldn't cap him yet. If he starts banging them in at Championship level then maybe give him a run.

Posted By: FREEWHEELER
Date Posted: 30 Sep 2014 at 4:34pm
Still gotta be a better option than The Fish Man. But yeah a bit early to be capping him but certainly should be watched by Martin or Roy or someone on the backroom team.  Keep it going son.

Bit early for a call up yet IMO. Paddy Madden scored goals for fun in League 1 but was unable to make the step up to the Championship (I know he had a fall out with Johnson) but soon found himself sold to a League 2 club.

Agree he is a better option than Sammon but is that really the barometer for judging potential call ups? McGoldrick or Sheridan IMO would surely be worth a look before Doyle.

Really hope the lad keeps his goal scoring run going though

Posted By: t_rAndy
Date Posted: 30 Sep 2014 at 7:48pm
Yeah I think we would need to have a big injury crisis to have to look as low as league one. With Doyle, he's on a good run and was suprising he dropped down to chesterfield in league two last year after playing Hibs doing ok in Scotland. As his goals have proved, league two is clearly below his level but it's up to him to prove that he can also cut it in league one and beyond. Now if he were to bang in another 11 in his next 8 games then he will be on the radar for championship clubs so should be then worth watching
