Said it months ago that this season was gonna be a tough one with Big Ec in charge but my god they have just got worse and worse as the season has gone on.

Worst thing about it is none of the players seem to give a fook either with the exception og maybe Given, Petrov and Agbonlahor, the rest couldnt care less or so it seems as a fan from his barstool Tongue

McLeish made 2 deadline day signings in Hutton and Jenas, Hutton quite possibly looks like the worst RB I have ever seen put on a Villa shirt and he has to be up there as one of worst players in the premiership, braindead reading the game and always gives the fookin thing away, no positional sense and is just an all round clueless footballer. Jenas played 20 mins and then gets injured and was injured when he signed for them as well so that was another masterstroke by McLeish.

While I accept that all the blame cant be pointed at McLeish a lot of it has to be, not as if he has a terrible first 11, it's the part where no one seems to give a fook that pisses me off most about the whole thing, most just happy to collect the wage and forget about how the team does.

The book stops with one man here and that is Randy Lerner, he knew when he appointed Martin O'Neill that great things were expected and to be fair he delivered, some great performances and results winning in the Emirates away that brilliant 5-1 win at home to the Blues, the great game against Everton where Ashley Young scored a cracker straight from tip off in injury time, Villa were in a great position one year and I think 7 or 8 points ahead of Arsenal around January and pole position for champs league the golden chalice and there I was expecting O'Neill to dig deep and make some big signing and then he comes along and signs Emile fookin Heskey of all players, then they went on a run of not winning till end of March or so!

Now we all know O'Neill had a falling out with Lerner over the sale of Milner, what were the ins and outs no one knows but from this moment onwards things have gone down hill at this club, O'Neill leaves, Milner gets sold, Houllier signs up, disaster of a season the following year and then Downing and Young leave.

So with all this money you would think maybe we will get Hughes in he just resigned fromFulham and is a decent manager but no no Lerner comes out and makes McLeish his number one man a man who got Birmingham relegated twice in 3 years, some credentials to be fair!

Now I don't know what Lerner plans to do with the club but the way I see it he needs to sell and fast, Doug Ellis would not have let this happen and it just seems Lerner doesn't give a sh*t either.

Either cough up in January with the money required or else sell the club and go back to the states, thanks for coming in and steadying the ship but it's in danger of sinking and fast unless something is done about it.

Apart from the game against Liverpool - I thought Villa had done alright.

You were also missing Bent and Gaby so it was always going to be difficult to get a result.

You must not have seen any of the rest of the games HB, it's embarrassing to say the least, got lucky against Bolton away prob should have drawn, been poor all season and that's the realty of it, McLeish doesn't know what formation he is playing half the time and the players don't want to know, they are in a bad way and are only gonna get worse.

ive watched Villa against Spurs, Man United, Swansea and Liverpool and they never looked like creating a chance. I know 3 of those are top 6 teams, but that has to be worrying

Spurs United and Pool all played us off the park, think Villa have beaten blackburn and Bolton in recent weeks, prob one other win in there somewhere but they are sh*te to watch with sh*t tactics and a sh*t manager who can't motivate his players to play for the jersey.

Have only seen them play against city and united this season and they were woeful in both games tbh

Dunne looks a different player for villa very indecisive- Collins is just brutal- bent aint scoring and when bent aint scoring that means he contributes nothing to the cause

Agbonlahor blows very hot and cold

Dont think nzogbia has done anything for them and was suspended by the club for the united game for not turning up for training apparently

Huge job on there for mcleish if he can manage to hold onto it long enough

They wont go down though

Ah, c'mon now Horsebox; you must not have watched one-minute of Villa action apart form teh Liverpool game.

They have been absolutely clueless with the ball all season.  I like McLeish, think he has the makings of a great manager, and should be given time - but the Villa fans will never accept him.

The formation and set=up he's got going on at Villa is very questionable...Darren bent must be fuming....Villa have been dreadful for the majority of the campaign - some of their home displays have been terrible to watch.

If Lerner gives him money to spend in January and it doesn't work out the fans will make it very difficult for him to stay on, something has to give be it Randy resign or McLeish cos it isn't really working out and they will hover above relegation very shortly too.

They'll probably go and beat Arsenal tonight now

The attitude of some of their players this season has been awful. N'Zogbia looks like he has no interest from the games I've seen. Hutton has been woeful and he looks like he could get sent off any minute of any game. Is it true that Darren Bent went to do his Christmas shopping instead of the Pool match?

Agbonlahor is one of the only lads that looks like he cares, the only good role model for the likes of Bannan, Albrighton and Delfonso.

At the start of the season it looked like they had a promising team. McLeish's Brum had a rock solid defence, I thought he'd bring that to Villa.

------------Given--------------
Hutton-Collins-Dunne-Warnock
Albrighton-Petrov-Delph-N'Zogbia
---------Gabby-Bent-------------

At the start of the season that looked like a fairly decent side, solid defence and plenty of goals.

Mcleish just can't get them working together.

Our back 4 is absolutely shocking Tribal, would like to see Herd RB and Clark LB and throw Cuellar in for Dunne or Collins, another CB badly needed .

Delph is shocking and you are right about Nzogbia looks happy just to pick up his wages and nothing else.

That is true about Bent he was ruled out on Tuesday and McLeish thought it would be a masterstroke to not say anything and put Liverpool off WTF!

Serious shake up needed to save the season or else it will be a last day relegation battle, exciting times ahead.

Liverpool have the worst shots on goal is that right Boss? We are sh*te no question about it, doesnt help that McLeish doesnt know his best 11 and always mixing it up, could see Bent being sold in January too.

mcleish is an okay manager, but the writing was on the wall with O'Neill's departure, once a club starts selling like they have recently, the only way is downwards. I'd be very worried if I were a Villa, more worried with Lerner's plans than Ecks ability

Amen Packies (is that racist btw, to call you that?),

McLeish is a more than capable manager for Aston villa, he problem here is Randy Lerner who simply won't be investing in this side any further by the looks of things, isn't that the reason O'Neill gave for quitting the club?

Plus....and Roy Hodgson had this problem as Liverpool manager, the fans were against it right from the start - and a club can't move forward with that big black cloud hovering over it!

Rumours of some Arabs coming in to take over with a lot of money to invest and that's the reason Lerner aint spending as he is waiting for the takeover to happen, could be a load of bollox but I for one would love to see this happen and then get a big name manager in to go with the takeover Clap

According to Sky Sports the Qataris have no interest in taking over Aston Villa - Villa fans better just get used to it, Lerner wants players who want to play for Aston Villa and the majority that will only do that will come from the youth set up, and the reason you didn't get Mark Hughes is because of one man..Kia Joorabchian - Lerner wants nothing to do with him and who could blame him?

Stephen Ireland has looked like the player City had when he was there in his last few games, seems to have put his head down and was only pipped for MOTM on Saturday by the excellent Given who had a great game and was brilliant to see him back in between the posts.

The remaining fixtures for Villa look fairly terrible and I still fully expect them to be in a dogfight right up to the last few games if not the last day, nervy times ahead.

Robbie really given the lads a huge boost and looks like a good bit of business by them, just a pity he didnt sign a few years ago.

Massive 3 points yesterday, really cant see Wolves pulling back 9 points on Villa so Keane has a lot to be thanked for.

Really don't think relegation is a possibility. There are too many poor teams in the pl. The last month or so has been encouraging. Results have been a little better but the performances are a million miles from what we had to endure before Christmas. I suspect that this is more luck than judgement on McLeishs behalf. I think he realised his defensive attitude wasn't inspiring either the players or the fans. The re-emergence of Ireland and the signing of Keane have changes everything

Villa won't go down thats for sure. S Ireland will be a major factor in this, he has been unsettled the last few years but he has potential to burn & nothing to lose with Villa. Lets wait & see about Keane shall we..

I read somewhere else it was for telling Pardrew to f**k off but we will find out soon enough.

We were nowhere near as good without him 2nd half.

Keane head and shoulders above any Villa player. When he goes we are rightly fooked to put it mildly.

Anyone with a spare fiver in their betting account put it on Villa to go down. You will get a bit of mileage out of your bet at the very least.

Worst Villa side I can remember.

I genuinely think Lerner should sell in the summer, sack McLeish and let someone else come in with money to invest and get a decent manager in cos if not its gonna be a summer of average players leaving and average players signing up, head wrecking to try and follow at the moment, big shake up needed though.

I really don't know what's going to happen. We've the same points as the clowns did this time last season and Mcleish got them relegated. Looks like SI will be out of the team for a while if what he said to the manger earlier is true and then Keane will be leaving, add to that Zog's comments so it doesn't look like we have much going for us.

Wolves winning at the weekend really wasn't the result I wanted/expected, said it before christmas Villa would be in a dogfight to stay up and I still think they will, cant rely on home games for any points cos quite simply they cant play at home for whatever reason, gonna be a long few months till May.

At the moment we have

1: Possibly the 2 worse full backs in the premier league
2: A centre half in Dunne who is unrecognisable to the one that turns up for Ireland (still love you though Ritchie )
3: Nzogbia who has stated he is not enjoying playing football at the minute
4: Stephen Ireland probably out of the team after his half time spat with McLeish (although McLeish is denying it happened)
5: Our best player over the last few games by a country mile going back to America in a few games
6: A 20 odd million pound striker who is a spectator at most of our games due to our style of football
7: A manager who still thinks Emile Heskey is a footballer
8: A manager who still thinks Emile Heskey is a Premier League footballer
9: A manager who has got relegated 2 times in past 3 seasons
10: A pissed off fan base who will make Villa park harder for the home team than the away team for the rest of the season ( I was at the Wolves game last year when they turned on Houllier and it was as hostile an atmosphere I remember at a game )

Anyone want to continue the list? Boss or Sono?

Back 4 is shocking
Wingers can't cross their legs.
Fans are staying away.
No money for players
Heskey sitting on the bench for 60k a week.
Agbonlahor playing out on the left when he needs to be used as a striker.
Petrov getting on and need a long term replacement.
Can't defend corners to save our lives
Can't score from corners
Players only turning up for half a game.

It's a bloody mess Steve, very much in the relegation battle too.

Alan Hutton
Stephen Warnock
James Collins
Petrov's legs have gone (still has the intelligence to produce top stuff at times)
Team can't seem to retain possession
Hoofball tactics
Toxic Atmosphere at VP
Too many head the balls ie. Ireland, N'Zogbia albeit good players
Alex Mcleish's negative influence on everything Villa
Alex Mcleish's record in the premiership
Emile Heskey
Fabian Delph playing for Leeds and not the Villa
Fluke wins which hide our flaws for 1 week/month

Cant argue any of this really. However, on a more positive note -

Football has been better of late (although this is due in the main to Keane and Ireland, both of whom may not play much more this seasonCry)
35 points should keep us up (nearly there!)
Wigan are awful
Blackburn are awful
Bolton, Wolves and Baggies are brutal
Ritchie Dunne's form is improving (not hard considering his performances in the first half of the season)
Clark is putting in a very strong case for inclusion in the Euro squad.

Protests to get him out and fans staying away and playing the team who are lethal and could easily bang in 4or5, have t won a game at home since November, something has to happen and quick, relegation battle should be fun.

used to be a big VIlla fan when I was younger (and can even say I was in Villa park when the Holte end was a terrace). But since O'Neill has left I seem to have lost interest altogether. With the style of play at the minute its nearly becoming a chore to even watch them on the box.

If McLeish picks the right team I really feel that we can get something from this. Dunne, Ireland and Given all can feel hard done by the way citeh cast them aside once the Arabs came on board. Clark and Petrov should limit the space in which Silva operates. And there's always Robbie Keane esquire. Actually, thinking about it, I'll pop in to the bookies. Keane first goal, villa win.

I think we could get a hiding today. Atmosphere will be poor and against most the top teams this season we have been woeful. Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd Spurs, City first time around. I think McLeish just writes these games off as no hope

0-3 to City

I was thinking that myself. If City had black shorts/socks it would be fine.

Two big games coming up. Away to Wigan and Blackburn.

Loose both and we are dragged right into it.

Was down at villa park today. Absolute disgrace. I'm far from a fickle fan but McLeish must go. Ireland made a massive difference as did nzogbia. Gardener was out of his depth. Hesky has no business being on the pitch.

I guess 1-0 at home to City isn't the worst result in the world, Blackburn winning at the weekend hasn't helped but QPR and Wolves losing is a big bonus, some Villa fans wont be too upset to see Dunne injured as he has been poor all season in the claret and blue, as has been mentioned 2 massive games coming up, need at least 4 points from them or else they will be in serious sh*t.

What was atmosphere like today by the way?

The usual. 78% nitrogen   21% oxygen 0.3% argon 0.3% water vapour and 0.3% carbon dioxide. Glad I could help.

Was at this one thought villa were a bit unlucky- need to get rid of that donkey Collins though- why the fook was Heskey playing on the wing? Villa missed a couple of great chances towards the end- city look a shadow of the side that were banging in 3 goals a game not that long ago

It took City 44 years to win the league and 10 months to lose it

Result is acceptable but the performance was shocking. Dunne injury wouldn't be hugely worrying but Clark is out as well. I'm worried about relegation for the first time, next couple of fixtures are huge and we are in a bad place right now with injuries and McLeish's poor man management.

Atmosphere was suprisingly positive given the standard of football we were witnessing from the home team. Was in the holte. There were no more than the usual number of "hecklers". I thought there were some protests planned yesterday? Saw nothing, though I did arrive just in time for KO so may have missed it?

I would put that Villa team yesterday in the same brackets talent wise as the Everton team that beat City a few weeks ago. However where they are miles apart is desire. Everton had a plan from the very start that they were going to hassle and get in City's face. They knew man for man City were miles ahead but what they lacked in talent they made up for in desire.

Now look at Villa yesterday. No urgency about our play at all, give City as much time on the ball as they want and just hoof it long whenever we had posession. No belief at all that we could get a result.

As a Villa fan its sad to see a team going out and playing like that.

Rumour going around on a Villa forum that an Arab takeover has been agreed for the summer and Lerner will defo sell up, believe it when I see it but would be quality and badly needed too, let's see what happens I suppose.
