Anyone see his performance on Sunday?

2 goals for Colorado to keep them top of the league.

His transfer to the MLS - can help him gain his confidence back & hopefully score some big goals when called upon for the Boys in Green!

Australian born Striker whos parents are Irish, plays for Brondby IF in Denmark, was well up for playing for us but was never approached! Capped by Oz against Germany last week in a friendly, can still play for us but has declared for Australia.

Have you never seen the american highlight reel of the goal by maicon against N.Korea?

Basically.. the Americans analysed the bejaysis out of it and by the end of the video you've stopped enjoying what is essentially a savage goal.

Over analysis is the done thing in Amerdica.

Are you serious??!!

Why would a football commentator have to explain what happens in a red card situation , when more often than not prob 99.9% of the people watching the game know the rules of football??!

Thats like saying Ray Wilkins or Alan Smith would have to explain to people on sky if John Terry for arguement sake got sent off wtf LOL

Yeah its right at the end there, explaining that they had to spend the rest of the match with 10 players, even thought he'd already said 5 or so times he'd been ejected, not a red either!

His attitude has been seriously questioned in the past.

I really don't know what to make of him. At one point he was an integral part of Trap's plans.
He looked like he might get back in when he was named in the Nations Cup squad but cried off even though Robbie Keane was back and forth from the States like a yo yo.

You'd have to wonder where his head's at

-------------

The sequence now is, should he miss this, and Ireland's next penalty is scored, then the match and the progress are Ireland's....Timofte against Bonner..

I'd rather give someone like Joe Mason a chance ahead of Folan if we were to look at different options tbh.

He actually played well in the last campaign he set up Robbie to get the point in Bari and then did the exact same a couple of minutes later that could have won us the game and he had a good performance in sofia but I'd give Sammon, Stokes and Best a chance before him tbh.

Confused Since moving to the States he had a number of questionable excuses for pulling out which culmiated last May/June when he pulled out of the end of season squad citing injury only to play for his club team during the international period. He'll never play again for us and will be lucky to be playing Championship football next season at best.

Lads, I think the posts above have been a bit harsh on Folan's withdrawal from the Carling Cup squad last May. Folan was called up for the squad but had been struggling with an injury for Colorado. I believe he only played a total of 90 minutes throughout the whole month of May (Colorado had six games during the month).

We've seen a lot of players miss games over the years through "slight niggles" so I think the suggestion that Folan snubbed his country is a bit over the top.

He seems to be an odd character and i do wonder about his attitude to his whole career at times but it is harsh to accuse him of "contempt for his country". I was as surprised as anyone that Trap took the time to call him last week though.

I thought Folan did ok for us - streets ahead of Best. If all that stuff is true about him, then let him f**k right off. Strange, though, that Trap would call him if he had shown contempt towards Trap and the squad.

Definitely agree with this; he was in the team kinda regularly during the WC campaign, especially big against Italy away, but he hasn't done anything at Birmingham since he joined a few months ago and he'll be off to a new club. Keane, Walters, Long, Doyle, Cox, Stokes, Best, Keogh, Mason, etc etc all ahead of him.

A fella I was in college with who now lives in Malaysia put up a status on facebook last weekend saying he'd had a few beers with Caleb Folan and George Boateng and that they were sound fellas. I commented asking how Caleb was. He replied to say that Caleb was in good form and glad to be injury free. He said he spoke openly about how his playing ability has declined but that he is happy in Malaysia.

Did you ever consider that there are actually better strikers available ahead of him, not to mention Noel Hunt too who was also a bit of a regular back then too.

When your being released by a Malaysian club says a lot really.

It didnt matter what form anyone was in pre Euros. If you were a regular you were in the squad. Noel Hunt was long forgotten by Trap before Folan finally got the boot.

Trap has always liked a tall target man and Folan would've probably filled that role right up to the Eruos if he bothered his arse turning up.

Is there any way possible that you can back that up?

Connor Sammon has 8 goals in his last 75 games , average of around 1 in 10 and he started v Austria in a vital game.... and played sh*te.

Keep out of my discussions

Anyway,

I don't agree that Sammon should be playing for Ireland as I don't believe he is good enough and more importantly there are better players ahead of him.

Sammon has got more League goals than Long, Walters and Cox this season and is level on goals with Doyle.

You can't even spell your own name not to mention the name of Conor Sammon.

On trial with Blackpool and scored their only goal.

Ince added: “You can see he has ability. If you were going to talk about the trial players, then he was one who did okay, as did big Caleb (Folan, the former Wigan and Hull striker).â€

There is no chance of Folan getting back into the Ireland fold, would you not atleast be glad to see him get his club career back on track?

He was always effective when playing for Ireland to be fair, especially when he came on against Italy.
