Huge cloud of smoke over the east side of the city(visible from the west). Was talking to someone who said it's hard to breath in Mervue.
Hope no one is hurt.
Any Galwegians know what's going on, what's on fire?

Just found out.

Biggest fire in Galway for years being battled at the Riverside Commercial Estate. The fire has spread to five units, all units are in danger of going up in smoke. Vardens, Cases, Liquidation Store and Cunniffes and the Cunningham-Higgins Van Centre to name a few. The fire is spreading to the main road.

Huge mushroom of smoke drifting over the city.

According to Galway Bay FM, 5 businesses are destroyed and more are on fire - Tommy Vardens, Black Dragon gym, The liquidation store and cases wine are all on fire. Sounds brutal but thank God no casualties have been reported.

I live on the docks and even though its dark you can see the massive cloud of smoke and town stinks of smoke and we are a good bit away.
Galway Bay FM have just said the fire brigade are struggling to get water so they might have to bring in a tanker and a platform to fight this one.

Carpet world is up next on the row. Don't think all those carpets will help the cause.

I'd say a lot of business people will be hoping the fire doesn't reach Baron Self Storage. Lots of businesses would have their documents in there.
