Tour de France is dead in the water for me with the doping, like the Olympics.  I used to like the Tour.  20 years since Galtee Cheese won it, amazing, I can still Charlie Hockey gatecrashing the podium as well, holding up Roche's arm like a long lost buddy,  nauseating it was.

point taken freewheeler but I still think its great stuff to watch.  Yeah remeber haughey hoping out of nowhere to claim the victory for himself and Roche. Great joint effort Smile

On that subject, I recommend Paul Kimmage's "A Rough Ride", he wrote it years ago with David Walsh, Kelly/Roche and plenty others weren't happy with him.  You should still be able to buy it somewhere.

the tour is finished for me also,
maybe if another roche or kelly came through it might get interesting again
I swear though, i don't jump on the bandwagon.
the clricket world cup was great but haven't watched a game of clricket since

wasnt mad about the Paul Kimmage book Freewheeler. I can understand his frustaration about the whole drugs thing and it is absolutely disgraceful that it still goes on but I think he comes across as a bit of a dick in the book. Can you rememeber the part where he wasnt into the whole pelothon chat and gags? one was where someone fell off and hurt there wrist and the gag was that your man wouldnt be able to crack one off for a whilke. Kimmage frowned at this sort of talk, he comes across to me like a bit of a prude and a bit of an all round moaner in the book I thought which was disappointing as I heard a lot of good things about it.
read a better one about some fat guy who rode the tour a month before the pros and just started cycling a week before he began, some buachill!
its called  French Revolutons by Tim Moore, bit of a slow starter but a good laugh

To be fair, it must be nearly 20 years anyhow since I read that book, maybe I'd read it different now. I still like Kimmage as a journo though.

yeah I do like his work as a journalist aswell, thats what surprised me more about the book. 200 pages of moaning! Read a few Lance Armstrong ones aswell and he comes across like a right pr*ck! or maybe its just meSmile?
