Collins decides against Livingston jobWednesday, 30 April 2008 11:58Roddy Collins has decided not to take up the offer of a new role as general manager of Livingston in Scotland and as a result will not be present at the press conference that was planned for the Clarion Hotel at Dublin Airport this morning, writes RTÉ Sport's John Kenny. Collins said: 'Having spent the past 24 hours deep in conversation with my wife and immediate family and having given the Livingston offer the attention and thought it deserved, I regret to announce that I will not be taking up the role of general manager at Livingston FC. 'My priority is the well-being of my family and that necessitates me remaining in Dublin at this moment in time. 'I wish Pearse Flynn and Livingston the very best for the future and, who knows, our paths may cross again.' The former Bohemians, Carlisle United, Dublin City and Shamrock Rovers manager had been due to join the Scottish outfit as part of the deal that has seen Anthony McMullen buy a 50% stake in the club. The duo had been close to taking over at eircom League of Ireland First Division side Longford Town earlier this season. Livingston, formerly known as Meadowbank Thistle before moving to West Lothian in 1995, finished seventh in the second tier of Scottish football this season.------------- 753 |
