Can't wait for the Barca match this week to see how McGeady performs. Another motm performance and surely some of the big clubs in England will be looking at him. I think it would be better for ireland if he was playing in the EPL against top class opposition week in, week out. I think Liverpool would be a perfect location for him with Kewell set to leave at the end of the season. He has also stated he would love to play in Spain one day as well.

Nah..can't agree with McGeady giving up champions league football for a top six side at best in the EPL..Would be better off staying at Celtic or joining one of the Top Four in England

I seen that. they have Petrov in his position though and he's having a super season.

don't get me wrong I am loving what he is doing for celtic but for him as a player , to be recognised as one of the best you have to play in one of the best leagues. Larson was a legend but was never appreciated until he went to Barca and kept scoring goals. Maybe he should stay beyond this season but if I were him I would be looking for a move in the next 2 years.

If he keeps playing the way he is a big offer will come in that will be too hard to turn down for club and player

Think mcgeady should stay at celtic for a few more years anyway, he's still young, has long career ahead of him. Mcgeady is celtic through and through so id say he will.

Hopefully the City link is not accurate, I hope he stays on a few more years alright, if he keeps improving he can hopefully add Irish consistency to his Celtic consistency cos he has been Celtic's best player this season, no question.  If the improvement keeps up, he'd likely attract the Premier League clubs and it's hard to turn one of those down when your only huge games in Scotland are against Rangers and the CL games every season.  You have to keep challenging yourself, hopefully he won't do a Liam Miller on it.

True about Liam Miller. I remember Larson saying Miller was the best player in the world for his age before he went to Utd

One good season doesn't a player make: Maloney, Miller and even Petrov have all struggled: He should stay at least 2-3 more seasons...then we will know how good he is and them maybe move on..why the Premiership would love to see some of our players play in Spain/france/italy or Germany

There is also the fact that our manager is Italian and could recommend some of our players to Italian clubs. I am sure McGeady would be one of them but he has yet to be THAT GOOD for Ireland.

True. The Inter President was saying he regretted it there awhile ago. He could certainly do a job if he was at one of the top Italian sides. Another player I would love at Pool!

Holy man, Liverpool are trying to sign everyone. It is probably the only way they will win the title! Sorry, Andy, I grew up when Liverpool were THE team and everyone and their mum supported them, like Man U these days.

not sure i totally get your point. I grew up in the 90's but I support Pool. We didn't win anything of importance until 2001 when I was 16 ears old. All my mates are mancs though so I know what you mean about them

Not sure what I meant either Andy!!!Confused Just being a grumpy bo11ox with a cold. I think it is all the Liverpool heads I know with a chip on their shoulder about Man U and all the Man U supporters with the same about Chelsea. Guess my point is that Liverpool, Man U and Chelsea have huge squads and when a player comes on the market they try to sign him. I'd hate McGeady ending up like Liam Miller amd I would love him to sign for a club which would use him week in and week out, like Celtic do.

Well that is the risk a player must take. Reading his comments about going to spain in the future it looks like he is in no rush to go anywhere which is good too, he is enjoying himself. But if he keeps performing the way he has been and if a club came in with a 10 million quid offer then would celtic be able to refuse it?

Posted By: RogerMilla

celtic would accept 10M quid for sure , not much less though.

McGeady defo needs to stay at Celtic for another couple of seasons, he has plenty of time to move else,He comes accross as being a much more grounded lad then Liam Miller so I would think he will decline all transfer offers for another year or 2, the problem is could Celtic turn away a big cash offer for him???

Messi on McGeady

Barcelona star Lionel Messi believes Celtic's Aiden McGeady will be the player to watch when the sides meet in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.

The Argentina international believes McGeady has the ability to become a success on the continent.
Such is the Republic of Ireland international's natural ability that Messi believes his Barca team-mates will need to give the winger special attention for the first leg in Scotland.

"Aiden McGeady is a fast and skilful winger and someone I rate highly," he told the Record Sport .
"We will have to be careful with him because his movement can be special and he has a great ability to appear in goalscoring positions out of the blue.

"I really like the way he plays football. He is a natural talent, who can create a brilliant piece of play in the blink of an eye and I can assure you our defenders will be paying very close attention to him.

"He'd be successful anywhere in Europe, but I know he likes playing for Celtic, so I'm not sure he'd leave."

Thought he did very well in the first half. He looks a different player the last while. He seems to have the confidence to take on anybody which is great for a winger. Like the rest of his team mates, he faded in the second half. Still, McGeady is certainly proving that he's more than capable at producing against the best sides around.....can only be good news for Trap
