I've been meaning to start supporting a LOI team but didn't know which band wagon to jump on so seeing as Fingal are a new team I'm gonna support them...better late than never..

I would Ernesto but you're at the other end of the Dart line unfortunately!

I dunno about their support Bob. Hard to say to be honest. This move to Morten Stadium is apparently only temporary as I believe they are buliding their own pitch down in the Swords or Donabate area so the locals around Santry and that area mightnt be too arsed supporting a team that will soon be leaving the area in the coming couple of years. I hope to make a few games though.....Sporting Fingal till i die Wink

a lad in work might be joining them if his foot injury doesn't end his career before it starts..so a bit more incentive to join.

I'm growing me tache, and going to borrow Gerk's wardrobe so I'll fit right in. Sporting Fingal til we dieLOL

Yeah Bob, get onto your mate about this. With only a few weeks till the season kicks off, this team doesnt even have a website yet so there's absolutely fook all info available on them.
Heard they played against a Brenfer side last week and won 4-1. Far from tough opposition but that's the only friendly I've heard of yet....

That'd be Rovers.

Any decade now.

Possibly might need a name change to Shamrock Davis first though.

Website (including the crest) http://community.fingal.ie/SportingFingal/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1 - here

Played UCD and drew 1-1 last Sunday.

An analogy to this would be Team High Road in Pro Cyling - were T-Mobile until they took the proverbial High Road over the link made between cycling and drugs.  Up until last week, they had no kit and yet had taken part in the first UCI Protour event - Tour of California is their first stage race with kit.  These boys are one of the top teams in the world.

Not saying that the SF thing is not a problem, just wanting to point out it isn't only in Ireland that this disorganisation happens.

Sporting Fingal.....ffs. Ah where to start with this one. Why is a team from Dublin trying to sound like they play in la Liga?? Also the last fcuking thing that this league needs is another team from Dublin. Like most major cities in Europe there should just be 2 teams.... I.E one on the northside and one on the southside. I would keep Rovers and Bohs only. It would increase attdances and would allow people to identify more with their teams.... There is too small a football going public in Dublin for 5 teams Angry

Ha ha. I'll do my best Bob. I also play on Friday nights at home as you know so I'll be up every couple of weeks I suppose. Obviously poor aul Drums got fooked out of Morton on Fridays or maybe they'll play every second week. Still a sh*te pitch though.
Will be interesting to see just how many turn up for the first game...

Tough work arriving in the pissing rain...and to be told that the home section was full..fair enough..so went into the Dundalk crowd .....and to look across at the home support (Fingal my TEAM) half empty and wonder WHY the f**k was I told to go to the away support??????

Anyway an absoluter shocker of a first half...eventually 10 man Fingal got a great goal and Dundalk (who were absolute sh*te) used the extra man to get an equaliser and might have nicked a winner: 1-1 fair result terrible game

I was also at fortress Morton with Hoskins amongst the mighty Dundalk fans. As Bob has already said, it was a poxy poxy night - more due to the weather than the terrible football in the first half.
Anyway, Sporting Fingal's Robbie Doyle was sent off in the first half for 2 yellows - shocking decisions. He's an ex Dundalk player so needless to say to some stick from "the Town" hardcore harp drinking element.
Fingal then took a deserved lead in the second half - Aidan Collins with a header.
The 10 men were never really under much pressure until the last few. Their equaliser was a peach - a 25 yard free kick from Crawley.
So it finished 1-1 and Fingal would have to more than happy with that result considering they were down to 10 men for the majority of the game.
From my first viewing of this new side, they'll certainly hold their own in this league this season.
