He's worked as sporting director with the club owner from China in China for the last few years.
The Chinese owner was looking for a interim coach at Granada so Adams who he knows well was the obvious choice to fill the gap.

I recall that when Strachan left Celtic in 2009, Adams did an interview on SSN where he suggested that he (as manager) and Wim Jansen (as director of football) were going to offer their services at Celtic.
The next day they then had an interview with a visibly surprised and confused Jansen - it was clearly the first he'd heard of it.
Tony Adams does strike me as a kind of "nice but dim" kind of person. Suspect he probably gets "used" by a lot of people and isn't aware of it. This current situation at Granada won't end well.

Everyone knows you've got to kick and punch your way out of paper bags, then go for a rake of pints afterwards with Parlour, Merse and the lads to celebrate your victory...
Anyhow, the game which confirmed Granada's relegation was a 2-1 defeat to Osasuna - the self-same Osasuna whose own relegation had been confirmed two weeks earlier in a 7-1 defeat by Barcelona. A Barcelona who rested Neymar and Suarez, and took Messi off on the hour. And who could easily have broken double figures, had they been arsed.
