A night out is expensive these days whether it be football , concert , decent meal etc.. Paid almost €60 to watch Christy Moore in Vicar street last week, the week before greens restaurant in cork 6 course Christmas tasting menu was €75pp so when you put football into entertainment categories that's where you at.
It's a shame because football should be available to everyone but unfortunately it's not these days, not even on the TV .

- cheaper restaurants - cheaper concerts - cheaper football If people want football, and only want to pay €20, there are alternatives. If people want to see Liverpool/Untied, you're going to be charged for the name and privilege. Same with Christy Moore and Tasting Menus. The ones I feel sorry for are the local Liverpool etc fans who have been ST holders for 40 years, basically got a habit when ST's were £100 and now are being charged £1000. Clubs should do more to keep the long term holders. You need some locals to avoid Anfield etc turning into a crowd of Norwegian/Chinese/Irish tourists.

Just an FYI, the most expensive season tickets are £860 - Cheapest are £685. Most of the long term season tickets holders locally still go. Most of the new season tickets when the new stand are local (the likes of me apart). And a portion of general sale tickets for every game are reserved for people with an "L" postcode. I point that out not to defend the club, just to make you aware: A lot of these things are down to the efforts of Spirit of Shankly, Spion Kop 1906 etc. Definitely agree that the local ethos needs to be preserved at all costs and, as always, more can be done. An am all for local football - Great day out in most cases.

Fair play to Reading I hope other clubs besides the ones below are reciprocal as well. Reading just tweeted to say they wrote to all 23 Championship clubs to propose reciprocal £20 tickets for away fans. Blackburn, Cardiff, Huddersfield have taken them up on it so far.

Lots of West End pubs at the £6+ mark, certainly, but not many above £7 (unless a particularly trnedy, craft beer, hipster joint, which will probably be a Slovenian patisserie next week and a Japanese/TexMex/Alaskan fusion cafe the week after). Anyhow, I don't know how anyone could compare a decent pub or bar, with all that entails, and queueing up for 15 minutes at H-T to drinki crap beer out of a plastic container in a vast concret concourse, surrounded by Weat Ham twats. Of course, none of it surprises me about that club. I happened to be talking recently to someone who works in Planning for the local Authority and all the bad things you hear about the owners are true, worse in fact. They make agreements to get a permission, then renege; they decline to spend even piddling amounts of money unless forced to; Karren Brady is a truly horrible person.

For our recent Pokal match at home to Dortmund, it was 19€ for a terrace ticket (for league games 17.50€ ). The 1860 fan groups complained about the price increase. |
