I understand Sligs fans using the term Rovers.

However there isn't a Corkie alive who hears 'Rovers' and whose first thought is the Sligs.

Not a dig me bollix.

Why not use the term "the hoops" if you don't want to get a dig in at Rovers?

In fairness it doesn't bother me what anyone calls us. Although I wonder why anyone with any self respect would use the term "shams" as it makes you sound like an out and out mullagh. Shamrock is worse, you sound like a brit.

It's a pretty sad debate though, like a child "why are they calling someone else rovers"

Ya and what's the story with this new club in New York being called city. Everyone knows that Cork City is the real City even Hull are changing their name to avoid the confusion of thousands showing up expecting to see John O' Flynn in action only to be dissappointed.

Its a pathetic attempt at a dig, which is now sadly being tolerated by the mod on here. If it makes them feel better about themselves then what sad lives they must lead

What about Cork, depending on which reincarnation we are talking about?

Never come across it anywhere apart from a few saps on here to be honest, always distinguished as Rovers and Sligo as the two clubs terms throughout the country. Obviously Sligo fans aspire to be us and would kid on that they are Rovers but its akin to comparing Man United and Sheffield Utd and saying the blades version are the team known as United

Obviously part of my anti Rovers bias....... Its from the day they beat us in the EA sports Final. Hated them since that Day
