Sainsbury's exchange rates are usually pretty poor in my experience. You'd be better going to one of those specialist exchange places of which there are loads in Newry - they do the best rates. That's what I'll be doing anyway. You got less than 5zl to the £ there and you should be getting more than that by today's rates.

I was 16 zloty light on the rate that day.  Buttercrane which is specalised and offered that didnt have any zloty in stock.  As I was just changing a small amount I didnt want to order it.

The one in Buttercrane is usually where I change Euro to Sterling. They seem to do the best rates in town. Will be getting my Zloty there.

They do the best si right but if your only changing small amounts bit by bit its easier just to get it from whoever has it.

NCOT -

€10 = £7.97

€10 = 43.12 zloty

£7.97 = 43.12 zloty

I assume thats using the same exchane company. Different companys have different rates. A second company might give you £8 for €10. Then change the £8 in company 1 and you'll get slight more zloty's 43.28.

Is the zloty dropping yet ?

Look not going to work save yourself the bother. If the FX markets were that easy to beat it wouldnt everyone be doing it.

The FX markets are like all gambles. Although the more information you have the more it helps your position. Hence the murky world of industrial espionage.

There is absolutely no point in changing to sterling first. None at all. The rates offered are different for buying and selling and the exchange provider makes money both ways. Exchanging through sterling just means you are paying exchange providers twice rather than once.

Most places in Newry Ive asked round in only have what has been sold to them in stock.  Im sure it is similar elsewhere.

Hi Vojt,

What I'm hoping to do from reading this thread is take a small amount of zloty out with me and then visit a kantor the next morning after I've landed.
I presume 100e, roughly 400pln will be more than enough to keep me going the night arrive (late) in Wroclaw. No partying just goin as far as the hotel and into the city in the morning for food and a visit to kantor.
Oh Poland we loved you.....
