No commission. You pay what they advertise. One can negotiate, too - don't know at what level though they'd be open for any negotiations.

Be careful with the Exchanges near the German border.
Those places offer poorer rates normally, on a par with the banks.

I just find it easier to have a bit of Zloty put away every week as it reduces my spending.  Il change £100 on the next 3 Fridays now and thats me sorted.  £500-£600 changed and with me and then my 2 wages when Im over there if Im stuck.
Oh angry nordies, we used to be British but were O'Irish now.

Aye.  They usually have a few knocking about but if you want more than £100 chenged you need to order it in I think.  Takes 3 days.
Marks and Spencers also have it from time to time in town.

Il assume you didnt do basic economics at any point in life :)

Short answer is no.

In simple terms

£1 = 4pln

£1 = €2

€1 = 2pln

Lets say you want 10pln

You change €5 into £2.50 and £2.50 gets you 10pln the exact same as €5.

Not basics economics

There could be a difference depending on the relationship between exchange rates for € to  PLN and £ to PLN.

Say €5 = £4 and €5 = 21pln

Say £4 = 22pln...........then €5 = £4 = 22pln

there might be no commission at an post cabra but you can guarantee they are riding you on the rate, straight from euro to zloty is the only way , you just lose out changing again

Of course it makes sense to change € to pln in Poland depending on things with Greece.

For the amounts that we would be changing to make anything it would need a collapse of the £ against the € and the £ to be strong against the pln. Not going to happen.

Just a cautionary note on the greek situation. If they are going to leave the euro, can they hold on in there until at least i change my money. The last thing we need is for the € to drop against both the £ and pln.

Sainsbury's exchange rates are usually pretty poor in my experience. You'd be better going to one of those specialist exchange places of which there are loads in Newry - they do the best rates. That's what I'll be doing anyway. You got less than 5zl to the £ there and you should be getting more than that by today's rates.

I was 16 zloty light on the rate that day.  Buttercrane which is specalised and offered that didnt have any zloty in stock.  As I was just changing a small amount I didnt want to order it.

The one in Buttercrane is usually where I change Euro to Sterling. They seem to do the best rates in town. Will be getting my Zloty there.
