There is a brand called Duck Tape though. Is Sellotape the official name for cellotape or what? Or is it called sticky tape? |

It is actually the other way around. It was originally called 'duck' tape as it was made using cloth made from duck cotton. Either is now acceptable but I believe 'duck tape' is a registered brand.

Person I knew used to know used to call a person with low blood pressure "aemic".
She thought the an was as in he's a coeliac or he's a haemophiliac, an aemic

I once had a teacher who pronounced military coup as 'coop'. When I corrected her on the pronunciation she insisted she was right as it was spelled C-O-U-P. Bless. Edited by Trap junior - 05 Mar 2018 at 5:37pm |

Farmers in the north would talk of couping a tractor, as in having it overturn.
I can't even think of another word using the same -oup sound. It's not like soup or coop, it's like the vowel sound in gout. The P is definitely pronounced there. |
